SYW pocket army little project done
« on: August 02, 2022, 02:12:11 PM »
I used 10mm Pendraken miniatures in 20mm square bases. I know I'll need a few more units but with this I have enough for a basic game.

Magnestized and ready to go:

The ranks of the infantry are too thin for my taste mate - but the horse is great! I like your painting and basing very much - enviable!

Lovely looking figures, really nice and bright.

Which rules are you using?

The ranks of the infantry are too thin for my taste

I do rather agree, for this period I think shoulder to shoulder for infantry is the look, I’ve even trimmed the bases a little on some of my figures to rank them up more tightly. But the less dense look does mean less painting so you get units done quicker!

Thanks for the comments guys. The infantry looked good until I put the cavalry next to them. At first I thought about putting four infantry man on each base but that would have doubled the number of figures to paint. Besides, my opponent was basing his army like that and I didn't want to have it differently.
The army is for playing Maurice.

We played a lot of Maurice back when it was published with similar armies, but using Pendraken’s WSS figures. You can definitely get a whole army done pretty easily.

148 figures (counting horse and rider as 2) and you have an army.  That works.  And nicely painted.

I understand the infantry comments but it's all stylized anyway no matter what rules we use so no harm going your way.

I also understand the infantry comments but my opponent convinced me not to put more than two figures per base. I think with four figures per base would have been better but I also think they look good as they are.

That is incredible detail on 10mms! Looks great. I think your basing looks fine too. I mean, I am no expert in the period but it wouldn't put me off.
