1/72 Fantasy Project Excesses
« on: 20 August 2022, 05:14:55 PM »
There's more 1/72 fantasy projects getting posted recently than I've seen in years past. With the boxes of minis at this scale often coming with upwards of 40 minis, and the unfortunate conflict taking place in the home of many of these companies, I think it might make sense for some of use to set up some trades.

Now, I expect we live around the globe, so shipping is an issue. Factoring in shipping, it generally makes more sense to buy a new box locally rather than buy from a seller across the pond and pay for shipping. Because of that, I'm not interest in selling, but I propose just trading. Tossing in a wheel of Cimmerians and a frame of cyclops into a padded envelope to ship overseas will probably cost $10-15...about as much as ordering a new box within the US. Again, a new box is gonna land me with too many extras and take the box off the market where supplies are already limited.

So, either today or tomorrow (daughter's birthday weekend) I'm going to set up a 1/72 trade thread over in the correct forum. I only needed 4 Cyclopes...not 16. I don't need 40 Cimmerians, etc. I have too many extras doing no good but taking up space when they could help someone else's project. I don't mind tossing a lot of these light plastic models into an envelope and covering the shipping overseas.

If interested, please keep an eye out for that thread.

Awesome!
I'd like a frame of Mummies (as well as Anubis, Minotaurs, and Rangers) ;)

No one interested in what I have for trade? I'm particularly looking for about 6 minotaurs and one frame of rangers.
I'll have to figure out what to do with all these extras.

I think trading is a good idea but in this forum there may be less than 10 people interested in that scale. I recommend you visit the forum of Benno, full 1/72 and very friendly: http://bennosfiguresforum.com/.
Another reason nobody calls can be that you're USA based and most here are probably in Europe.

You might be right about Bennos. I was hoping that overseas trades could still be worthwhile as these models are small, very light, and wouldn't require any serious packaging. they should ship cheap.
I'll try bennos though. thanks.

For example, I'm in Spain and sending a small parcel with plastic minis is 10+ € in shipping to USA, and I have a local shop that sells Zvezda and Italeri for 12-16 € a box.
I've traded twice in Benno's with people from Europe, with shipping around 6-7€ but for minis I couldn't get them because they are OOP; in my case it was some Fantasy adventurers from Caesar and Zvezda Medieval Peasants.
I know there are people from the States in Benno that might trade with you.

Hi Jack. Sorry, have been away. I will try to work out how to PM you, as I have spares of the things you are after. I haven't checked the postage from the UK yet, but hopefully it won't be too much.

It's a good idea as I look at the Alliance Cyclopes and think - yes I could use maybe 4 or 6 of them.

Trading works best in the same country to keep postage down as UK to US is expensive, not too bad to EU countries and pretty cheap in the UK as they are so lighrt.
