Perilous Island 10: The Race
« on: 23 October 2022, 05:00:34 PM »
The Steeles set off immediately for the beach where they had first set foot on the island. When they arrived they were dismayed to discover that the shipwreck had gone! Had it succumbed to the elements and sunk to the lagoon floor? Had they missed their chance to uncover Darrow’s research?
They wandered further down the beach and eventually their fears were relieved. The wreck had been carried away and now resided in a new location. And luckily for them it still appeared to be accessible. The looming question now was if the Lagoon Terror also roamed these waters…

Moving cautiously towards the water Guy was shocked to see his nemesis had beaten him to the punch. The Scorpion Master was already in the shallows, preparing to swim out to the wreck. His minions were all over the beach. Signaling to his friends to cover him, Guy started to run. The race was on!

Molly and Penny started by taking out one of the scorpion robots while Mallory and Ruairidh took on the other.

Molly spotted the Professor and took Finn with her to interrupt whatever he was trying to do. That left Penny exposed and she did not notice the cultist creeping up behind her…

Due to the Scorpion Master’s heavy robes, Guy won the race through the water and hauled himself onto the prow of the ship. He began looking through the debris for books and pages that may have belonged to Lord Darrow, hoping that they would reveal the information they needed in order to discover where the man had gone.

Back on the beach, Ruairidh and Mallory finished off the scorpion and began a shoot out with some cultists.

Penny, hearing soft footfalls behind her, cried out in alarm which brought her faithful hound racing back to her defense. He leapt at the creeping cultist, dragging the man to the ground. As he did so the robotic scorpion nearby dragged itself back to its feet, having repaired itself enough to continue the fight.

Molly, drawn by the gunshots, ran quickly to help her friends and engaged one of the cultists up close.

The Scorpion Master finally reached the ship in time to hear Guy give a whoop of excitement. As he prepared to board he felt a disturbance beneath the surface of the waves. Seconds later the Lagoon Terror burst from the water, drawn by the commotion above.

The Master quickly turned tail and started back for the shore. He was content to let Guy deal with the beast alone. Guy however had prepared for this eventuality. He had taken advantage of his growing friendship with the natives and traded for a substance which somehow served to make one undetectable by the monster. He watched as the Terror gave chase to the green robed villain, then leapt from the ship and slipped past both of them. The Scorpion Master almost made it back but the Terror proved too fast for him. They engaged with each other in the shallows.

Arriving on the shore Guy immediately jumped into the battle to help his companions. He made short work of the remaining cultists and left the Scorpion Master to deal with the Terror.

After they had retreated back to the jungle Guy revealed that he had found a map on the ship, which showed a secret path that led to the interior of the island. At last they knew Darrow’s destination!

Amazing stuff! All of it!  :o

Is that a PWorks mat? I was thinking of getting that lagoon mat for similar games.

Thanks all. I’m having a lot of fun with the write ups so it’s good to hear you are enjoying them. I’m in catch up mode right now as we actually finished the campaign last week. So a bunch more AARs are on the way soon.

This one is from Table War.

Really good stuff here - the table and minis look great and the reportage reels us in.

A great AAR! Looking forward to more installments.
