Shame the enemy will have machines guns and rapid firing artillery.
On the Eastern front cavalry had a larger role, mobility was still much needed. Also, Hussars had machine guns too! (now their distinctive gear will be quite a sculpting project...)
Early WWI really was a mix of modern weapons and Napoleonic uniforms!
This figure (from Balaton Modell I think) is showing the Hussar in parade gear, originally came with a bare head, I sculpted the shako onto him. On the front shako was worn without the plume and with a (pike grey) protective canvas cover- in most cases, especially later, it was replaced by a field cap, but the shako is the more iconic headgear for hussars.
