I haven't checked in here in a bit.  But I see there is some more great-looking stuff!   :)

Amazing amount of work!  o_o

Your display case to put all those miniatures must be enormous.

Your display case to put all those miniatures must be enormous.

It's a "display room" actually :). My gaming room cabinets are all full already so I have taken over an adjacent room as my new "historical room". It has a solid wall of 16' worth of display cabinets from floor to ceiling which should last for a bit. I just ordered three large plaque prints of the maps for the battles on which my historical collection are built, including a ~4'x3' plaque for Waterloo. The plaques are custom-framed in the back to allow me to flip them over and use as ready-made skirmish tables separate from my main gaming table in the primary game room. I will share some photos when everything is finished.

For now, here is the second heavy cavalry regiment in the Netherlands Division: Carabiniers No. 2. These are Belgian. I am somewhat running out of steam in the final stretch of this project with new projects taking ever more of my mindshare. 5 more cavalry units and two more (half) batteries to go... Pushing myself :)

Thank you all for the encouragement. I shall prevail :). Painting the last heavies now, though I might batch the horses with the light cav as a bundle.

The model are from Perry. Belgian Carabiniers Charging. Same for the first unit except those are Dutch. They are single models with rider and horse as one part. Nice sculpts but limited variety. For the third (Dutch) Karabiniers, I went with Front Rank instead for variety. The light cav is likewise a mix of Perry and Front Rank.

Alright, I think I broke the devil's back! The 3rd Karabiniers regiment is finished and with it the Netherlands heavy cavalry brigade. Also shown below are the two half-batteries of horse artillery attached to the Netherlands division. Finally, I batch-painted all the light cavalry horses and metallics so the final four regiments should come together quickly.

Thank you both. Here we have MG de Ghigny, commanding the first light cavalry brigade, and the 4th Light Dragoons with four squadrons (Lichte Dragonders No 4). Like I said, it's going to go quick from here (hopefully!).

I have also finished my preparations for the final "resting place" for my Waterloo collection. Eight large display cabinets now grace the wall of my new "historical room" and a wood print of the battle map looms over the seating area. The print is multiple purpose: the front is a plaque print of the battle while the rear has a frame which leaves a 4'x3' area covered in grass terrain. This allows me to flip the plaque onto the (expanding) coffee table in the seating area for use in skirmish games. Not sure if it will ever get used for this purpose, but the notion amuses me :).
