Pain trees from Dungeons & Lasers Encounters.

These are plastic trees with enough parts to assemble three of them.

The set also included separate bottom parts of the trees, sculpted with tree rings inside. I decided to use one of them on its own, as if it was the remains of an old, broken tree stump. Because of that, one of the trees ended up shorter, since I built the bottom part separately instead of attaching it.

A small update from the painting desk – this time I finished a Highlander Huts and a cart from Dungeons & Lasers.

The hut has a clear Viking vibe, so it will fit perfectly in games like Pillage, but it should also work great in other fantasy or RPG settings where a rugged northern atmosphere is needed.

Looking great! This terrain for anything in particular or just something fun to paint?

Big arrows on lighter uniforms were the first to be used in victorian times in England, USA using horizontal stripes soon after. Sadly I have only ever seen vertical stripes (rather narrower though) on prison uniforms in one place, WW2 Germany.
But they certainly do look the part of prisoners.

yes - wonderful painting in general in this thread of course, but a misjudgement here I'd say - def. frisson with a particular time and place. That was my gut reaction - and I don't look for these things, believe me.

Anyhow, the Beholder's awesome.

I’m planning to start playing Pillage. I already have some MDF buildings that work for the period, but I wanted to add something with a stronger Viking feel.

I went with the stripes to make them instantly read as “prisoners” on the tabletop, without aiming for any specific historical reference.
Only after finishing them did I realize the final effect isn’t quite what I had in mind.  :?
Really happy you like the Beholder, though - thank you!

That terrain looks really great, it will definitely help bring to life any table that it's used on. The cart adds so much character, it's cool that you included it!

Thank you! I think so too. I’m planning to add more scatter terrain, like a well, some fruit baskets, and similar details.

Thanks a lot for the links! I actually already have quite a few crates, baskets, barrels and such - mostly from Dungeons & Lasers, since they include a lot of accessories in their Gamefound campaigns - but I really appreciate you sharing the Etsy shop.
And thanks for the blog link as well, your painted crates and other scatter pieces look fantastic!
