BEST OF TACTICA

As soon as TACTICA is over, TACTICA 2023 appears on the horizon. On February 18th and 19th, 2023 we will open our doors again. The event in 2023 has the motto "Best of TACTICA". It is planned that some TACTICA-Veterans will present their old games. Finally an opportunity to marvel at or even play with old pearls of our TableTop hobby. Perhaps some have missed their personal highlight in the past or really want to see it again, this dream could now come true. We are also very excited to see which game will finally make it into the TACTICA halls.

What are your favorites from past TACTICA events? What would you like to see again or what did you miss? Write us in the comments or post an answer. Maybe your wish is also an incentive and the decisive motivation for the makers to dust off their old treasures and present them in new splendor.

Whilst I have managed to get to Crisis and Spiel a couple of times over the years I have not managed to get to Tactica yet. I hope to rectify that in 2023 and I am very much looking forward to seeing in person what online looks like an amazing event.

Anyone else on here going in February?

That's definitely my plan after three grim and dark years. The hardest part is contacting my friends for planning. Every single one of them uses a different messaging platform.

Maybe I'll just book my own trip and see what happens.

The Perry twins have again announced their participation in TACTICA 2023 and again they kindly sculpted a special figure for us. This year there are even two characters who are as inseparable as Alan and Michael Perry. It is about Don Quixote and his faithful companion Sancho Panza. The story of the "Knight of the Sorrowful Figure" was written by Miguel de Cervantes and was published in the early 17th century. Today everyone knows at least his proverbial fight against windmills.

TACTICA Figure 2023 – Lemon-Jette

It doesn't always have to be personalities from Hamburg's military history. Especially in these times we want to push other characters into the TACTICA spotlight. Let's start with the Lemon-Jette, which will be our 2023 TACTICA figure. The lemon-Jette, real name Henriette Johanne Marie Müller, lived in Hamburg's “Gängeviertel” at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century and sold lemons in the city centre. She was mentally and physically retarded and only 1.32 meters tall. She became known through various plays in which street life in Hamburg was portrayed in a humorous way. Her memorial can still be found today near the church “Hamburg Michel”.

This year Lucas Luber from Piano Wargames modeled our TACTICA figure for the first time and did a sensational job. Some of you will be familiar with his very successful Kickstarter for Napoleonic figures. If you want to know more, check out his website:

Well this is going smoothly...

I booked my first proper trip abroad after a three year you-know-what hiatus, and my first Tactica trip after a three year break as well. (Connect the dots there.)

Now it seems that German airport personnel is going on a strike on Thursday-Friday. Hamburg airport only published a press release in German. My airline has not informed me in any way. I learned about this late tonight from short online news.

One of them says, "The strike is expected to affect domestic travel in particular, according to the union, which said it gave advance notice of the strike so passengers could find alternative options."

The airport page suggests that 126 departures and 127 arrivals are affected (basically cancelled) on Friday. On Saturday there are 94 departures and 90 arrivals. I see more pigeons than holes there. Not looking good for those alternative options, especially as Saturday - if possible to begin with - is already half-late for the event.

I've been drowned in work and other hassle this winter and this week. I have at least four meetings tomorrow. I expected a tight departure but otherwise a reasonably hassle-free trip. Even managed to place my pre-orders to collect them in person.

I don't know how to summarise the situation and my honest thoughts about it right now. I'll take another look tomorrow and start asking around for the crucial information that I still haven't received. Sigh.

Thanks, but looks like it doesn't. I cannot find any sane way to get there on Friday or Saturday, and the rescheduled Sunday flight would leave me with just the final 2-3 hours when most people are already packing their stuff. No idea how many non-German visitors are in the same situation.

Unless a miracle happens, I have to cancel the whole thing and redirect the money to a Salute 50 fund or something.

TACTICA 2023 is over and we would like to thank all participants, guests, dealers and helpers. Kudos to the presenters and the once again sensational gaming tables. So that everyone can still reminisce a little or for those who couldn't come to TACTICA, here are a few first photos.
