SYW Battle of Aufeld

The Imperial reinforcements, 1xGrenzers, 1xAustrian infantry, 1 Austrian field artillery and 3xKreis battalions appear behind the Bavarian brigade

The Austrians have stopped at close musket range with Lengenfeld, but do not dare to attack.
Miltiades send the Grun Loudon grenadiers against the village this unit consisted mainly by Prussian deserters, a probable reason they were so hesitant to attack

A view from the Prussian side. An infantry battalion, having been pounded by Austrian artillery has fallen back to reform. I was keeping one battalion in column, which immediately deployed and filled the gap (orange flag).
The Austrian grenadiers are pouring through the woods to threaten Aufeld.
My Fusilier brigade is rushing to cover my right. Not seen in the picture, the Austrian cavalry, understanding that they cannot force their passage through the bridge, are turning back towards the center. The Prussians left the regiment of Plettenberg Dragoons to guard the bridge and made a mirror move, waiting for the moment the Austrian grenadiers will debouch from the woods.

The Grun Loudon grenadiers have got three hits and are on the verge to collapse

One battalion of Austrian grenadiers emerged from the woods and attacked Aufeld.
They are now seen reforming at the other edge of the woods and another grenadier battalion is ready to renew the assault

The situation seen from above.
The Prussian jaegers have made a narrow escape with three hits and are now in front of Aufeld.
Austroimperial units are converging from all sides, the table is congested!

The Austrian hussars are returning, but they won't dare attack the Grenadiergarde.
Some Austrian units that came too close to Lengefeld have fallen back to reform taking a lot of hits from withering Prussian fire.

One Prussian battery was almost crippled as Miltiades concentrated all his counter battery fire on them!

The battle suspense was going to its height.
...and while Miltiades' Austroimperials were losing only two battalions -a few more having fallen back to reform- and the Prussians were firmly holding...

BOOM!

Our best buddy H. came sneaking behind my back and dropped on the gaming table a couple of these!

As you may imagine, any will for fight petered out and the rest of the game was lost in the fog of history.
Some say that it disappeared in the steam of spirits and all of us lived happily ever after!
