BSC2023 has.been Abandoned place of 'Worship'
« on: January 26, 2023, 07:59:29 AM »
It will be a long abandoned place that obviously was built
for some form of worship. I am thinking of some bemused
archeologists of the distant future trying to work out what
form the worship took.
Yesterday my wife & I went to Banbury (UK) for a moochy
day out. There I saw a sign on a building that said, 'Digital
Archeology' and it started me thinking.
Not much planning yet though.

When I was still in infant school, yes that long ago, the class watched
(in glorious Black & White) an educational programme.
Archeologists from the far future were excavating a building from the 1960s.
They jumped to all the wrong conclusions. e.g. The remains of the family car
in the garage led them to think it was the family's 'god' in its shrine.
& the dinky toy found inside the house was a portable aid to praying.

My now-gone Great Aunt had a house built for her in the Karoo on her sheep ranch by my uncles - one an architect and one a surveyor. As this was in the middle of nowhere, they built it perfectly east-west so as to "screw with the archeologists who dug it up"

“Abandoned” gives you plenty of scope…could be ruined, or could be largely intact  :)

Oh that's quite funny. On the 'Recent' section on the left of the main page, it looks at first glance like it says...

"BSC2023 has been abandoned."

For a moment there I was thinking 'Oh, what has Hammers done now? Another sexual scandal?'
