Where to purchase brass spears?

The pre-made steel spears are essentially piano wire.  Very straight, and springs back to shape instead of bending.  It comes in different thicknesses.
Does anyone know of a source?
And, does anyone have a handle on what thickness is good for what scale figures?

Here is an example of mine. A few years ago I had the electric wiring of the house redone, and I ended up with meters and meters of old cables in different gauges. I have pretty much endless supply of armature wire and means to fashion pikes, spears and blades. I even made katanas for my still unfinished samurai band. And I probably over did it with the realism cause I managed to stub myself multiple times by now
