since Perry Afghans were mentioned as a possible source for bodies, I'd just comment that Afghan jezails (either from Perry or Wargames Atlantic) might be suitable for SF weapons - they look similar to some of the Star Wars weaponry (possibly Tusken or even Mandalorian?).
just a thought

I forgot the Great Escape Gunslingers:

Gunslinger body and Stargrave head and arms.

A little late catching this, but this an inspired kitbash.  I'm now sorely tempted to try to figure out what I need a warband/gang in such a style for and why the should jump the painting queue.

Does anyone know if the old Rogue Trader plastic weapons scale well with the Stargrave weapons? I'm thinking the classic las weapons (Space Dwarfs & Imperial Guard) and the hand weapon sprue (Confrontation I think).

The new GW weapons are too big for my tastes.

I think they'd work pretty well. If no one else has a more definite answer, I can snap some comparison shots tomorrow evening.

Sorry about the late reply, I'd been away from the forum and forgot about this. Here are 3 Stargrave weapons with a  RT lasgun and bolter, 2nd edition bolter and bolt pistol and third edition lasgun.

Many thanks for the pic eilif.

Wow, most of those GW weapons look really chunky and clunky next to the SG ones. The RTB01 bolter looks good but even the RT lasgun looks like a big fat crayon next to the SG rifle.

I have managed to get hold of a Rogue Trader Hand Weapon sprue and some of the weapons do work really well while others look too big...my I'm just getting fussy :D

The recent Ooh Rah kit from Wargames Atlantic is pretty snappy, and with good proportions that are still Heroic Scale but significantly less chonky than a lot of other options out there at 28mm.   Has three styles of helmet head options too, and an option for bare heads and floppy hats.  I think these became my favorite generic sci-fi troops almost immediately, at least in terms of a multi-part kit.

Mantic makes their GCPS Troopers too, which make great generic Sci-Fi, but they're closer to 30mm.

ooh Rah doesn't mix well with Stargrave unless you use Stargrave arms on them. The Ooh Rah arms are anorexically skinny.

GCPS are the awful Mantic plastic. Pain to work with. Plus there's something about the sculpts. Too many cloth folds....

There is also the Spiral Arm Broken.

They have separate arms and weapons and the combinations are a bit complicated (they have a blog post here http://www.thecommguild.com/roller/thecommguild/entry/broken-infantry-sprue-which-arms).

How big are the shoulder joints on the ooh Rah figures? I find I either have skinny arms lost in a huge shoulder joint, or need to trim the arm to get it to fit.

I was hoping to use some of the WA sets, but tiny shoulder joints would be a nuisance  :(

Thats quite an array of options but too fiddly looking for my tastes.

Both the Ooh-Ra and the Broken minis seem to be going for more detail than the SG minis so they look a bit mismatched...though with a touch of paint them might sit better together.

On Facebook Northstar have been showing off the next box of minis for Stargrave...Scavengers.

They look pretty cool, I can defo see myself using them for cultists and angry mobs of grubby civilians. I wonder if we'll get a 2nd set for the ladies?
