Thanks everyone  :)

It might seem like things had gone quiet over Christmas but I’ve been working on a lengthy paint queue…

I picked up an army of Imperials on fleabay recently for considerably less than the unassembled plastic price, and I managed to get a whole bunch repainted over the Christmas period…as you can see the original paint job while quite funky isn’t exactly Imperial regulation…

Some TLC, rebasing and a whole bunch of white paint later, and I’ve got the following…

I know what you are thinking…”hey didn’t you already have a whole bunch of stormtroopers?”… Indeed…but now I have a whole bunch more

 lol

{GROUP SHOT}

I’m going to work upon an 8 man squad system (technically I know they could be 9-10 strong but I’m factoring in some attrition).

Each squad will include a Sergeant, a Corporal, and a heavy blaster (which in some squads might be carried by the corporal).

4 squads plus a LT & a sergeant makes a platoon….4 platoons makes a company ….so I’m roughly halfway to a company.

In terms of rank markings, there seems to be some disagreements between sources over pauldron colours, but I’m going with the following:

Lieutenant- Orange
Sergeant - White
Corporal - Black
Attached Specialists - Blue (Sniper), Yellow (Artillery/mortar), Red (Flamer)

“Chief” (equivalent to a sergeant-major) can also be red …normally see one in a company, commanded by a Captain (who will be wearing the all black tunic etc rather than armour).

Some sources say that a “squad leader” is orange, but that doesn’t seem to leave any way of distinguishing between a Platoon/squad commander…I’ve also seen references to black pauldrons can also be worn by all enlisted, which again, would just complicate things….

Guess I’ll need some squad-sized movement trays for larger games  :D

Great find on the fleabay and great paint.  You really do not do anything by half measures and I love it.

Long Live the Empire!

Eight man squads are my preference as that was the original squad strength with WEG (which is where I get most of my stuff from because I prefer it lol).

I don't know what amazes me more, the original blue colour of those Stormtroopers or how many you now have!

Either way, impressive collection.

That is a stunning array of storm troopers, almost enough to man a star destroyer!

They look great, and much nicer in navy dress white rather than commando blue.

With so many of them, the statistical chance of them hitting someting just has to go up, right? Right?

That is one impressive line up of the Emperor's finest! 8)

Great work, and I'd say go nuts on the shoulderpad colours; canonically we've only ever seen the orange one I believe (and maybe black in the background?), but there has to be some structure in that sea of white.

I read somewhere (a long, long time ago) that they do have rank and specialist markings on their armour, but they're only visible in infrared and/or ultraviolet, which, when viewed through their helmet visors, will be visible to them alone.

Which helps if you're worried that a sniper will pick off the leaders in the squad. I don't know if they have taken non-human species into account that can actually see in infrared or ultraviolet, but here we are :D
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Impressive force! Now you need at least a Death Star to transport this legion.
