Re: Gangs of Rome Project - NEW Foricae

In-between working on my next proper buildings for Gangs of Rome I have made a quick scratchbuild of a latrine or foricae. It is basically a simple foamcore box with a mdf base following the dimensions and style of my other Sarissa buildings. I designed the foricae, tub and tersorium (sponge on a stick) in 3D Builder and printed them out. I wanted the finish to be appropriately grotty, as any public toilet should be.
Even though they change out the tersorium weekly, could the latrine's proximity to the Blue Cock popina be the cause of the wine bar's salmonella problems? Nah.

Thanks all. Your encouraging comments will help spur me on, as I have a LONG way to go.  :)

Footsore and Sarissa are kindly sponsoring the table I plan to do and I am really grateful for their support.

The next building depicts four separate ground floor tabernae with living quarters above. The tabernae from left to right are a grocer, fishmonger, glassware seller and another small wine bar (popina). There were many popina in a given town so I plan on doing quite a few more of them. The glass merchant is obviously doing well enough for himself to jazz up his taberna a little.

While detailing this build I realised that many of the accessories I put into the shops won't be seen from the street at all, making them a little superfluous. I fully detailed the grocer but you can see that any accessory beyond the counter will rarely be seen. I think I've come to the conclusion to only detail what will be seen from the street and to resist detailing the interiors.

You are right in this but appart from painting, what gives life to the buildings is exactly what you put on them.
While in terms of gaming is really appelative to watch all those details and the gaming table looks superb, at the end i think you´ll have to find a middle term that satisties what you are after as the end result.
