17th Century East European PDF Rules/Scenarios available
« on: 17 April 2023, 10:43:25 AM »
The PDF versions of the 'With Fire and Sword' rules supplement and the 3 accompanying scenario books are now available as PDF downloads. These cover the 17th century wars in Eastern Europe between the Poles/Lithuanians, Russians, Swedes, Cossacks, Tatars and others.

One quick question on the army OBs.

4 Elite, Winged Hussars, WH (Winged Hussars)

This would be four units of Winged Hussars is that correct?

I have a lot of the By Fire and Sword miniatures and these look like great scenarios and will be playing the rules Twilight of Divine Rights.  All my miniatures are mount on 40 wide bases and are 15mm. Was thinking of have in the units two or three bases wide any recommendations on how best to create units with the 40mm wide bases.

Yes this means 4 units of Winged Hussars.

Using either 2 or 3 of your bases would be fine. The rules use a flexible system based on the frontage of a unit. It is the same with the scenarios, the squares of multiples of the basic movement distance.

If you are using 3 bases of 40mm each then the BW, the basic movement distance, will be 60mm. This means that each square on the scenario maps will be 1 foot (30cm) square on the table. If you use 2 bases of 40mm then the BW will be 40mm and that means each scenario square will be 8" (20cm) square.

Because the system is flexible if I was you I would be tempted to use 3 bases =  1 unit for the smaller battles and 2 bases = 1 unit for the larger ones.

Thanks for the reply. And yes that is what I am thinking 3 bases for small battles and 2 for the larger battles.

This is a unit of Cossacks for By fire and sword

These are some Hussars by the now defunct Totentanz miniatures. Or at least I think they are gone, to bad had great figures.

Great looking figures.

I am not sure if Totentanz are still going but the 'By Fire & Sword' Hussars are nice as well.

Hopefully you can post some photos of your games at some point.
