25/28mm Train sets Goldlok (Europe)

Hi

I just picked up the Western Express train set with 12 bonus tracks for a hypermarket in France (Auchan) for €17.00 EUR

I also saw a 1829 Steam Train which could be jus the "ticket" for Victorian, Pulp and Old West Scientist (Mad Profs from Deadlands)

I'm happy with my trains!

for the 1829 its got similar coachs but the train is a "Rocket" style and yellow - so both need some painting!

Depends on how you like your VSF to be. "Steampunk" could be described as the variant more focused on technical progress ahead of its time, such as in "The Difference Engine" or "Anti-Ice", or, basically, any of the "techy" Jules Verne novels, whereas "Space:1889", while certainly big on the tech stuff, too, seems to be a bit more "fantastic" in its approach.

VSF is surely not a clearly defined subject and a matter of taste, but nevertheless more than historical steam engines, whether technological or fantasy

I am not very sure, but the mentioned 1829 train does look a bit inconsistent to me?
the engine is rather 1870es, while the coaches are much later?

Yes I would agree but for me the coaches can be recycled for the Old West.

The engine is a but big and clunky, but for Pulp Gothic horror and crazy inventors I think (once painted/washed with black inl) it should come up ok

the only "unusual " about the engine IMHO is the diagonal transmission, uneven traction wheels and the missing cab, typical for early times when the trains were not that fast. To this the closed cabs are contrasting...
So adding a proper VSF speed cab with tank (or converting one of the waggons to a fitting tender) should do the VSF trick

Otherwise the LOCO is a nice and unusal piece in railway modelling

wondering if it could be available in Germany - what did You say it costs?

I tried on ebay, but the only thing I found is a "normal" Western Express

17 Euro is well worth it's money. As I heard it is 0 gauge, so plenty of track available.
Even sent from France it would be still cheap compared to what is available otherwise, and hey, 3 passanger coaches and an unusual engine....
