I really like them and would like to know who sculpted them and if they were owned by any previous companies?

Dave A and Aly M are the original sculptors for the range. I believe the range has always belong to Northstar.
Best wishes,
Helen

Dave Andrews and Aly Morrison. I think Great War Miniatures was an independant company when first set up. I seem to recall them being launched at the same time as Warhammer Historical's "The Great War" back in the 2008 (?). Certainly their figures were used in the stunning demo game that was on the show circuit at that time.

I would certainly be interested if they were planning to make some new figures - a fuller range of late-WW1 Scots in kilts, or some late French, for example.
No plan survives first contact with the dice.

I'd definitely be interested in some Belgian Cavalry and artillery

There have been a few threads requesting expansions to the GWM ranges but they have come to nothing as I guess the sculptors are busy or on with other projects. Also not sure about the popularity of WW1 as to the economics of commissioning new sculpts.

As for LW French, Gripping Beast do a really nice range.

Both have day jobs so additions to GWM will be very slow and occasional, at best.

I'm reliably informed that some Crimean cavalry horses need their legs repaired and that's the next job.

Yes, the Brigade Games late WW1 French are superb - unfortunately for my wallet they are on the wrong side of The Pond as nobody in the UK sells them and the postal charges from the US to the UK are ridiculous.

Just to confirm, the Great War Miniatures range belongs to Dave & Aly. It's because they have day jobs that they have left the running of the range to North Star. All the design decisions are with them.

Unfortunately, Dave Andrews is not too well at the moment, according to Aly Morrison, and so will not be undertaking further work on the WW1 GWM range for the time being.  I've asked Aly to keep me informed as to when Dave is back in the saddle and I shall post an update on here when I hear something.

David is healthy and well…
He is just taking some time out from sculpting to get over his cataract operations

All the best.  Aly
