The Forest of Sorrow
« on: June 11, 2023, 04:22:26 PM »
This is still very WIP.  I decided to try some printable scenery impaled victims.  I don't think they will every be more than background scenery to set the mood but they are pretty neat.  It was fifteen files that I had printed twice by Proteus 3D Modelling.  If you do not have a resin printer I can highly recommend them for both the communication and the final product.  The thirty prints were spaced around ten bases with bamboo skewers cut to flesh out the posts.  Still needs some paint and groundwork before I can call them done.
First the bases on their own.

You can see the difference between the finished test piece and the WIPs here.

Here they are bunched up.

Lastly with some scenery.

Hope you like.

They really do set the mood of the table (not a mood your average player would want to be in, that's for certain)

A couple of those spread around can indeed completely change the mood and feel of a table.  8)

Excellent idea and execution.  :-*

I must admit that I'm not a fan of the huge clump of foliage in the middle of the finished base though; it kind of takes away from the impact of the victims up high on those poles and makes them less intimidating and haunting.
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Thanks for the kind words all.

I wasn't real happy with it either.  I am intending on doing the rest of the vegetation much lower.

They kind of send the message that someone you really don’t want to irritate lives nearby.

Excellently creepy, and the burial mound also looks great - one of those has been on my 'things I should get around to' list for a good long time now, and come to think of it, would slot nicely into my gunpowder fantasy/creepy folk horror stuff very nicely...

Finished these up last night.  Darkened the rotting flesh and used lower vegetation.  Now all I need is an angry Transylvanian  prince.

A couple of individual stands to show some of the detail.

I do, they are suitably gribbly.

The lower vegetation works a treat; they look great. In a grizzly sort of way.

"In a grizzly sort of way" << shouldn't that read "in a gristle sort of way"? :o

I've been eyeing these myself though not sure how I'd use them - they can be printed in 15 mm, too.
