Gimli the dwarf weapons in book
« on: June 17, 2023, 09:07:03 PM »
Hello,

A quick question as I search for a 15mm figure of Gimli.  Does he have a axe and shield or a two handed axe?

I recall he picked up a shield in Helms deep.

of course I am looking for book references vs movie.

Thank you

I'm going from memory here, but I believe he has "an axe in his belt", which would imply a one-handed axe (or at least a short-hafted one). Only Boromir has a shield to start with, if I'm remembering correctly.

Here's the quote (from 'The Ring Goes South'):

"Gimli the dwarf alone wore openly a short shirt of steel-rings, for dwarves make light of burdens; and in his belt was a broad-bladed axe."
