DAK 88mm crew Shoulder/ Collar Boards?
« on: August 19, 2023, 12:25:26 PM »
A question for the enormous knowledge bank here...

I have a DAK 88mm gun and crew that I am painting up for Bolt Action and 02 Hundred Hours.  When it comes to crew insignia I am stuck on what colour to use.  Who did the 88mm guns belong to?  Should their insignia be pink for Anti Tank Panzerjagers?  Should I use red for artillery?  Would this also apply to edging on the field cap?

Did the Luftwaffe have their own AA guns?  What colour would their insignia be?

I know it's only a little detail once they're on the tabletop, but I'd like to get it correct.

TIA

88s could belong either to Army artillery flak units or to Luftwaffe flak units.  Both used red as their branch colour.

Anti-tank units wouldn't have 88 flak guns.

On caps, the branch colour would normally be seen as an upward-pointing chevron on the front of the cap, framing the black-white-red national cockade.

88mm gun crew is summat wot's niggling me at the moment. I want a 28mm crew kind of getting the gun ready for action, as opposed to most I've found who're depicted firing that deadly popgun with malice aforethought!
