Sky Galleons of Mars at BARRAGE
« on: September 24, 2023, 03:11:05 PM »
I thought everyone would like to see a video of a Sky Galleons game I ran this past Friday at BARRAGE convention in Havre de Grace, Maryland USA.

The link below takes you the youtube video filmed of my game by one of the locals at BARRAGE. I'm busy running the game (the guy in the blue t-shirt) but one of the players has nicely narrated the info. After many, many years of getting my 40+ ships together, I finally managed to get to run a convention game.

The game background is Fenians trying to bomb the British legation at Moeris Lacus, only defended by a few Parhoon Navy ships (no British ships), but the game does allows me to use my new Prince Arthur Aerial Battery (a British crewed battery with a 6" and four 5" guns!). End result was that, as they say... "those Fenian bastards won"; the last two turns they destroyed the legation. Obviously, there will be severe retribution coming from the Crown!

All models are 28mm, including the battery (which is a copy of one you can find a drawing of online), using clear plexiglass rods for the various elevations of the flight stands. You'll also see three high craggy hills/mountains added so the ships have to maneuver around them.

Enjoy,
Bob

Ever since seeing the old Warlords games I and several friends have tried getting models up to play and failing miserably.

With total shame, I salute you!

Awesome work, thank you for sharing.
I never did have much luck with Sky Galleons. I was too aggressive and always ended up in a fiery crash.

All,

Just a FYI, I'm running another Sky Galleons of Mars game with my 25mm ships at this year's Barrage convention (Sept. 27-28) in Havre de Grace, Maryland. The game will only be on Friday the 27th. See link below.

Alas, half a continent can prove a hindrance...

Still, looking forward to further dispatches!

If more video is possible, perhaps a bit of floor action?

Delighted to see Chris Palmer in the HAWKS group photo!

FYI - it's probably only a short (15 minute?) Uber from Aberdeen.
