Gojira: 1954! A project start.
« on: December 25, 2023, 03:23:40 AM »
I am a MASSIVE fan of the Godzilla movies, starting with the original 1954 Toho series. In fact, those - to me - are far better than anything made today.

The new Apple+ series “Monarch” is a lot of fun, in case anyone was wanting to watch it, as it delves into the early history of how they find the G-level Titans.

To this end, I have just ordered some 12mm Victrix US troops for some kind of Gojira game. They’ll - obviously - be mere fodder for the king of all monsters, but I am hoping for some kind of rules and scenarios that will give “fighting retreat” wins for the forces against the unstoppable.

No idea what rules I’ll use yet, but I have a good collection of the classic monsters. Stay tuned!

I do recall a 'Pocket Money' game from decades ago,
'The Creature that ate Sheboygan' (sorry if the spelling of the city is wrong).
You might find a copy on e-bay.

Thanks! That looks like a fun game. Shipping is too high (as much as the game!) for me, so I’ll try to find a copy locally. There’s a good used section at my local big games shop.

Watched “Destroy All Monsters!” last night, what a blast.

Also found an awesome N scale collection of Japanese themed trains, monorails, and buildings here: https://www.plazajapan.com/

That was a game whose name I remembered from the dim and distant past.

Cool! I think I had read about it in Dragon back then, as I got my first TSR stuff in 1982, and collected back to the earlier stuff. All sold now …

I found a pdf of the rules with all the counters etc - I will modify it to be a physical 3D version I think. The counters will be replaced with miniatures. As I have N scale Victrix for the American forces already, it should be easy to find N scale police, fire, and civilians with train store models.

Cool idea for a game - thanks!
