For 2024, I'm planning to start a new sci-fi project, F. Herbert's Dune, but more inspired by the 1992 videogame than the recent Villeneuve's movie. Maybe with a light influence of 40k...  :)

After the sort of disappointing 2023 on the hobby front, I'm all bright eyed and optimistic for 2024 again :)

I am setting my usual goal of 100 miniatures for the year, of course.

Also, I'm hoping to do a lot of terrain stuff this year; enough wintery terrain to fill my new snow table. Next to that I'm itching to get to grips with my moderate/green table and the jungle terrain that's been in a WIP state for quite some time now.

And finally, I'm hoping to downsize my collection considerably this year, simply because I need the space, considering there will (hopefully) be loads of new terrain to store! Also, rationalising Lead Mountain and Lake Plastic will probably make things a lot more manageable. As in; the unpainted hordes will loom less over me like my own sword of Damocles...

So; here's to a fulfilling, healthy and productive year!
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

I plan on painting more miniatures than I did last year and while I don't expect to complete my whole Pile unpainted/i] dwarfs done this year I fully intend in making a serious dent to it.
And given that we're not even 2 weeks in and I've already completed 20 more models I'd say we're off to a great start.

Also, I now I say this every single year, but I really will try not to buy anything or get anything printed before finishing what I have.

I had a good 2023 for gaming, probably my best year in a long time. Mostly helped by finding a good gaming club not too far and actually pushing myself to go. I've painted up a Chaos fleet for Battlefleet Gothic and had a few games, an Averlander warband for Mordheim and had good wins in a Bloodbowl league with my Skaven team. Next thing up is an Eldar army for Epic - mix of metal proxies and prints. Not super keen on prints at 6mm, they are very fragile.

I'm currently considering something new for 2024 - I was made redundant from my job but I'm getting a generous payout next month and I'd like to treat myself, but nothing really takes my fancy. In the old days I'd start a 40K or Warhammer Fantasty army but I just cannot bring myself to pay GW's bonkers prices. I might just hold back or add a few bits to what I already have.

I’m hoping to do less hobby and be more active, contrary to most other goals here.  lol

The Hope?  Paint more than 1,000 of my figures (I've done it before a few times so not as crazy as it sounds).

The Dream?  Figure out which figures I'm never going to paint and be rid of them by the most expeditious manner possible - with or without exchange of funds.  And that is a lot trickier than it sounds - or maybe it sounds just as tricky as it is since I guess we can all relate, or at least a lot of us.

The Realistic Expectation: finish off my Mexican-American War project. I am 85% there, if not giving myself credit for painting some units that weren't at my chosen northern campaign. Eureka just released some figures for a unit in the orbat where i'd already painted up a stand-in, so I moved back one square! Two more regiments, and then loose ends to tie off like generals and wagons.

The Hope: get my Russo-Japanese fleets done, finally.

The Dream: get at least a brigade a side done of my 40mm AWI stuff, sitting in an intimidatingly large and heavy box upstairs waiting for me.
