Fantasy Fishmonger. Finished 11 Jan

Just what it says on the tin.  Working through the interior and exterior elements first.
A basswood and coffee stirrer smoker.  Used a flash to show some of the interior.  Still need to add the door.

Next is a work table and bookcase.

The window display.

Hangers and fish. Just noticed I did not paint the lines holding the fish. 

Lastly some general clutter items.

I still have some other interior elements that I want to work on before I build the structure itself.

That is some excellent shop dressing you’ve done, they’ll add real character/believability to the premises. If I had one comment it would be that maybe the fish could do with some lighter silver highlights to make them pop. I could be wrong and it could be the picture making them look darker than they really are (digital photography is the enemy of my painting confidence  ).

Do you already have the shop finished?

The shop is not built yet.  I usually do interior and exterior details first and then build the shop to fit.  The fish are a little dark but the camera makes them look much worse.  I don't know if I am going to try to brighten them up or not.  Mostly becasue they will get a bit lost in all of the clutter in the shop.

It’s going to look excellent, do you plan to do a large fish shaped sign for the front? Did you sculpt the fish or are they 3d printed? Do you have an idea for what the shop will look like or is it as organic as you described and just grows around the fittings?

Your work is exactly what I love about the miniature hobby (and luckily is well represented by the talented bods on LAF) - it’s not just a piece of scenery but an evocative and recognisable glimpse of an actual world (real or otherwise). I love gaming (mainly for the company) but the modelling side of the hobby is just so satisfying.

Understand about getting "lost in the clutter" comment but maybe add some slight horizontal striations on those fish getting smoke dried - at first view I thought they were red peppers!   .  But the color works well for salmon.

My buildings tend to be completely organic.  I work off an initial concept or idea and build from that.  Those have been as simple as bodies hanging in a closet, weapons racks, little bottles littered around a shop, or a statue that I picked up.
I also prefer to make every surface to be as playable as possible.  All of my builds tend to have flat roofs, open doors, wide open floor-space and multiple entrances and exits.  I also like to at least give the appearance of a purpose for the building while keeping it playable.

I think I have finished the interior bits.  First the smoker.  At fifteens away suggestion I put some striations on the fish, then added the doors and smoked up the wood a bit.

Next at Beneath a Lead Mountain's suggestion I gave a ery light highlight of silver on the fish to brighten them up a touch.  My lighting situation is a bit crap so it does not show up too well. 

Next some miscellaneous shelves.

The fishmongers sign to go over the door and the bucket tarted up.

I should be able to start on the structure now.

I love the wood colours and weathering - just excellent. The striations finish the smoking fish perfectly. I wish I lived near you so I could see/game with them in person.
