Starship Troopers Miniatures Game
« on: 15 November 2009, 05:54:50 PM »
Hey guys

I'm thinking of starting this up as a new project. I have tonnes of the stuff and would like to put it to good use.

Anyone have any inspiring stuff?
Also, I'm always looking for new stuff, so please tell me if you have anything you don't want.

Important things I am looking for:

LAMI (Light armour mobile infanty)
Veteran CAP troopers (Metal Mobile Infantry)
Female CAP troopers (Metal MI)
Heroes of the Federation (Metal MI characters)
CHAS (Metal Robot walker)
Marauder Variants
Pathfinders
Pathfinders with Neo-Dogs
ExoSuits
Assassin Bug
Tanker Bug Variants
Rippler Bugs
Skinnies of any sort except for Tyrants and lords.

However, as I say, anything is nice.  :)

Here's a few photos I took many years ago (I think around 2006).

BRAIN BUG

SKINNIE RAIDERS

SKINNIE MILITIA

MOBILE INFANTRY

HOPPER BUGS

WARRIOR BUGS

SKINNIE WARCHIEF (Looking for more of these btw)

SKINNIE TYRANT

TANKER BUG

TANKER BUG (closeup)

SKINNIE SOLDIERS

I think I will repaint the raiders as I remember my guard and soldiers were red and black, this scheme would be cool following through the whole Skinnie army.
I may redo the Hopper Bugs as I think they are too bright, they look too much like plastic toys.
I will be redoing the MI to look a little dirtier and a lot less bright and colourful. Far too 90's GW for my liking!  :D
I also have loads of warrior bugs to build, so I might build up some Tiger Bugs.
Gonna look out for the series on DVD...  :)

Some good looking stuff there, makes me wish I had picked up the game when Mongoose was still in business (along with the Judge Dredd stuff)

excellent job youve done with those figures very impressive

You might have left it a bit late for the LAMI (Light armour mobile infanty) as they now go for a bomb/
cheers

Well I have one box, was just looking for more. One can hope though!

Lol, I did demos for the company, so I have the Dredd stuff and quite a lot of SST stuff.  :)
I also did work Experience in their offices which got me a few extra bits and bobs (like the fleet landing party).

Oh and I will pay good money for Skinnie Cabal or Skinnie Brutes (I remember the greens, but not sure if they were ever released).

Yeah you should. I love the game so much, I used to regularly attend tournaments at Mongoose. Just wish I had more money at the time. I really, really do.  :'(

I still have some of my stuff, but I'm keeping those. How'd I manage to miss this thread? Too bad that Mongoose went bunk, and I was so wanting to get the MI dropships, fleet landing party, and plenty of more bugs but noooo.

Actually, they're still in business - just exclusively selling printed/downloadable material.

I just managed to get a complete collection of their JD-stuff before they quit the miniatures-market. Now that bunch is sitting around in a box on a shelf, just like my SST-stuff. (I actually managed to assemble and prime some warrior bugs, and I even started painting 3 cap troopers... then the game was discontinued, and I gave it up,... One day, though....).

I think stories like this is what made me start going into 'generic' rulesets and 'alternative' gaming - it is so much easier to find miniatures for you favourite skirmish game if it was made by a 'rules-only' publisher and/or is set in a historical environment (like pulp, for instance).
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

I bought a bunch of SST stuff but sold it when I realized that I could do it in a "better" scale like 6mm which gives the imprsssion of longer ranges (plus it violated the "Buy No More Scales" rule I strive to game/live by.)  Kept copies of the rules/army books for gaming.

Great games, some really good figures, "Interesting" business decisions.

Good Luck on the needed units.

Gracias,

Glenn

Aye, I'm the same. Except regarding the new 2000AD miniatures game they have planned.

However, I don't hold them to much anymore. I'll believe it when I see it and if/when I do, I will be quick to buy.  ;)
