I am thinking about a maintenance workshop for a medieval army on campaign.

I am not sure what to include but essentially, it will be a shed with a small group of blacksmiths, armorers and carpenters.

I see a large medieval tent with a portable smithy, some carts/wagons and many metal details such as pieces of dented armour, broken weapons etc in your future...

Today, I have been working on 26 WW2 figures from Offensive Miniatures that are on my painting table, but I have also been doing some planning for BSC2024.

I also spent at least an hour sorting through various leftovers and bits boxes.

I found some roof tile plasticard from last years BSC2023 15th C Swiss Church, which should be enough for a small shed or two.

I also found some plasticard sheets, strips and rods in useful sizes that could be used to make benches and shacks.

I already have various medieval wagons, some of which could be repurposed.

I have a lot of Perry plastic sprues leftover from my Agincourt and Swiss / Burgundian Wars projects.

There are certainly enough to litter the workshop with swords, lances, pikes, armour, bows, arrows, and crossbows.

@Deothar - rather than a tent, I am thinking about a commandeered village blacksmith's building with various temporary covered stalls built adjacent to it.

These will be timber frameworks and awnings rather like craftsmen and traders build at at historical re-enactment events.

I have done some research and found inspiration in an article about Guedelon Castle in France.

This is a massive living history project to build a castle and learn how medieval craftsmen made things.

I have sorted through my left over Perry medieval sprues and made my first two craftsmen.
These have heads from the Agincourt sets and bodies from the WOTR sets, which means a lot of drilling to make a new neck for each head from left over sprue.

I also found parts for three left over Zvezda 1/72 wheeled siege mantlets which became hand carts.

Guedelon is absolutely fantastic. I've been following them for quite a while now and it's experimental archeology at its best. When I go that way again, I will for sure pay a visit to the site

Lovely stuff. There is a very good book that goes with the project build of the castle showing all the building techniques etc. Its called the ," Medieval Castle" by Haynes.

This week, I made some anvils and a medieval field forge with two bellows.

I went to the model shop and bought an Excel Mitre Box and Razor Saw and an Amato Master Cut (mini guillotine)

Today, I have built a wooden shed - like a real one but small.

I love the shed's construction, but also the various pieces of equipment, such as the anvils, bellows and workbenches. Very nice indeed

Lovely work, it's really coming to life. I like the construction for the shed too.
