British Infantry of the Indian Mutiny - Updated 03/12/09

All figures by Mutineer Miniatures.




32nd Foot - Seen here in typical 'khaki'. This came in various shades and a huge amount of variation was the norm.

95th Foot - Seen here wearing the uniform they were issued on service in Burma, a red shell jacket and blue trousers. They eventually changed in 1858 to a more suitable attire!

84th Foot - Seen here with the white uniform that was described as 'Linen' in colour.





90th Foot - Shown wearing the 'Chinese Boat Coat' that was issued as the unit was headed for service in China and diverted to India. The coat is described as anything from chocolate brown to tobacco in colour, so I went for an earthy tone. Collar and cuffs were in red. He also wears his home service trousers of Oxford blue with red stripe.

1st Madras (European) Fusiliers - A rather posh chap from 'Neills Bluecaps', Im pretty sure they didnt have facings but I do have one reference to blue trim on the cuffs. Im 99% sure its wrong, but it does look pretty!

53rd Foot - Shown wearing the uniform worn at the Third Battle of Cawnpore. The 53rd were one of only three regiments of foot that had red facings.

Indeed. I'm hoping the mutineers in uniform are wearing the peakless shako rather than forage caps, I'm hoping to flesh out my Foundry figures for Afghanistan, Scinde etc etc.

Very nice painting and I'm greatly impressed with these new figures.

How long for the officers/personality figures, I wonder? Those and the sailors are what I'm looking to get (initially, at least).

I am after the command figures too but I think after seeing these beauties I am going to have to dive in already.

Great job V. I presume you painted the firing figure as a Holland Boatcoat rather than it being sculpted different to the others?

Yup... I just painted it as the boatcoat, it has the same pattern as the rest. I was limited in what figures I could use as these are from the production master mould. Brian just got me the first few test spins to paint up. Should have more later today with a bit of luck...

Having spoken with Brian at length about the range, I know he has big plans for it. Some of the stuff that is coming is just stunning.

I adore this period, it was my first historical wargames period when I started gaming over 20 years ago and while I always loved the Foundry range, I believe this range will eclipse it. That said, the two ranges work ok together from a size perspective so those with existing collections can add without any issues. Im starting from scratch again as its more fun that way...  :D

Wow this period and the minis are tempting...

I think painting all the uniform colours and having them together in one place is really inspiring for everyone.
