Valleyboy's Italian wars(update 28/8)
« on: 01 April 2024, 09:12:05 AM »
I've just been searching for an old post on here to try and recall when I started my slow burn Italian wars project. It was long ago, probably more than 13 years ago since I started. My initial interest was kindled by those lovely pictures in early editions of Miniature Wargames in the early eighties and set on fire around 2010 when Artizan produced their Landsknecht range. I collected figures gradually painting mainly Landsknecht initially but I've put a bit of a spurt on recently and painted a lot of cavalry recently.

I found the old thread https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=34072.45 just now.

Yesterday I decided to get out all that I've painted over the last 13 years and posted a lot of pictures on my blog https://valleyboyinnz.wordpress.com/
Unfortunately there are too many to post here but here are a few

There are quite a mixture of figures from Artizan, Old Glory, Eureka, Casting Room Miniatures, Steelfist, Wargames Foundry and Warlord games and of course Perry Miniatures. I have a fair few more to paint I think but the bulk are done. I've never quite got around to buying any TAG or Mirlton. I know if I was starting again I'd buy more Steelfist but I now have plenty of Landsknecht.
I've surprised myself with the volume painted and how much of the 10 x 5 table they fill. Its certainly taken a while!

I cannot pretend to feel impartial about colours. I rejoice with the brilliant ones and am genuinely sorry for the poor browns. - Winston Churchill

Wow! That is an amazing looking collection that really captures how I imagine the period, also inspired by those early wargaming magazine covers etc.  Now for some battles!  :D
