New series of Doctor Who...

What's the Brethren's take?
In my 'umble opinion the return of Russell T Davies is brilliant, with one minor winge...
It's OK to be all arty-farty like, but it's the Daleks/Cybermen that carry that show!

I really like the new series, so far.

Personally I'd sooner we never saw another cyberman or dalek. Lets have some new opponents. Endlessly defeating the same opponents in a time travel show gets stale real quick, IMHO.

Dr Who vs Cthulhu - now there's an episode I'd relish  :D

I managed to watch one episode so far.

Its not making me feel "oh I got'ta watch another".

might try to get round to another new one - not getting into it much yet.

Probably because they labelled it "series 1" - I mean really?

I went through all the John Pertwee ones available on Iplayer already a while back.

stopped halfway through the Tom Baker era.

Cthulhu crossovers and such would be nice.

Get some Old ones in there, see if they remember him.

Frankly I thought the first two episodes were rubbish.  They had a completely different feel to a normal DW episode, and were very childish.  Third one was clever and thought provoking, and the fourth one was excellent.  Hopefully it will continue to improve.

The Christmas special was so-so, the first episode was bulk info dump and so unmemorable I had to look up the plot, the second was grim.

Steven Moffat gave a couple of his hobby horses a re-run (Doctors Daughter and the one with David Walliams and the minotaur spring to mind).
The fourth was up there with Midnight.

Probably why I am struggling, to get to bothering with it, think I will take your advice and skip to episode 3/4 and try.

Just the first episode left me, meh. - tried the second barely got past the start sequence.

The return of RTD as showrunner is dreadful, the only positive is that he is slightly less abysmal at the job than his bestie Christopher Chibnall.
Between them they have destroyed what was a genre defining character and series.

It is crap.

Hardly watched any of the re-imagined latest Doctors.  Just cannot be bothered with them.  The stories I've seen lack imagination and more importantly a sense of danger and suspense, perhaps this is due to the "adventures" being mainly single one hour episodes rather than a serial of 3 or more programmes?

The Pertwee and Baker years, to me, were superior - but then I was a lot younger!

Totally agree. The Christopher Ecclestone period was OK, but I gradually became disinterested. The flying shark Christmas episode was the last straw for me.

I have enjoyed most of the more recent Dr Who (Ecclestone onwards) but the first two episodes of the current Doctor were dire! What was that song and dance routine in episode 2 all about? "Oh Bugger! We have finished the story and got some time to fill, what shall we do?"

I do sometimes daydream of the Pertwee/Baker eras, made with todays production technology!

Hell Yes, currently watching the first doctor on Iplayer, can't be bothered with the new Dr. in all honesty......

No spoilers but today's episode was very good, satire with kick.

Excellent episode and very impressed with the final scene given it was apparently the first thing from this series that Ncuti Gatwa actually shot. "It's a timey-wimey thing"  :D
