The next terrain pieces were right at the top of my to-do list for terrain, simply because they are so typical of Italy, Sicily and the Levante: Vineyards.

However, it took a few (failed) attempts before I achieved an acceptable result that fulfilled the criteria - should look like a vineyard; should not be a firmly modelled hill; must therefore be flexible.

I'm quite happy with that for now, although I already have 2 ideas for improvements for the next version - let's see if they work as intended

Works for 15mm but for 28mm too as you can see::

They look good but not quite right for a vineyard.  For the 15 mm guys they certainly look more like orange or lemon groves due to the scale.  I wonder if you can get the growth going along the wires a bit more rather than so round?  The traditional vineyard is sort of longer and thinner and less bush like.

They do sit well on the hills, what did you use as the base?

I’m with Jon that they do look a bit bush like for vineyards.

Yes, of course I know what a vineyard normally looks like, the large gaps between the vines themselves are the compromise I had to make to achieve the desired flexibility.

For the base I used just some fleece.

The gaps don’t detract from the look to be honest - it’s the clumped foliage that stops it reading as a vineyard and makes it look like an orchard.  The foliage needs to be thinner and in a continuous line.

Didn´t use clump foliage but poly fibre - the problem are the trunks, will have to made them a bit different so they don´t look like little trees.

What’s the thickness of a typical grape vine?  Even at 28 mm they will he pretty thin, feels like geavy duty wire would be thick enough?

Yeah the next trunks will be built from wire and the branches just stretched to the sides so they should be much thinner.

As I wanted some thematically appropriate Jump Off Points (Chain of Command) / Objective Markers (Battlegroup) for my US Boys, I used some leftover miniatures from my AD- and Airborne projects and some drop containers and parachutes (self-printed ones) to build 4 of them. Scale 15mm again.
