Silver Bayonet, a different direction
« on: June 12, 2024, 10:57:45 PM »
Silver Bayonet has been a wonderful surprise for me. I spent years wondering what to do with my old Flintloque figures as they have little eBay value, then a rule set turns up….

I’ve gone from wanting to get rid of a collection to buying new figures to add to it!

Oh and the different direction; well I play my Ferach Elves as French, my Witchlands undead as Russian and Orcs as British.
No easy dice roll too difficult

That’s an intriguing direction to go, but why not? It does seem like a great way to enjoy the old collection!

Thumbs up! I’ve been tempted to add some Flintloque models to my own Silver Bayonet stuff. Both ideas are suitably pulpy to work together.

One question though: when you go full Silverloque, how do you represent the monsters, just as they are or taking the stats and using „real“ fantasy monstrosities?

Anything that excites you to keep wargaming can't be a bad thing. They could be used for Five Leagues from the Borderland.

Great stuff.

there's a thread on the 'other Adventures' sub-forum I think where someone's using Flintloque for / withSB - and I was going to do the same.

I mean, they're ideal for it, particularly if you're willing to add some extra fluff.

Brilliant. Any reason to use painted figures for a new project is a welcome one!

I have been wondering if Alternative Armies has seen an uptick in sales since Silver Bayonet came out.

oddly enough, we used to use the Flintloque rules a few years back for straight Napoleonic skirmishes.

I never saw the point playing “in fantasy drag” with flintloque (or blood bowl for that matter)  but i definitely like some of the figs…they would make for interesting units from/in Faerie, say as the bodyguards of The Man With the Thistledown Hair or forces summoned by the Raven King.
