Greetings wizards.
I'm thinking about a custom army and wondering about the feasibility of making it, so doing some research. Most of the army would be made up of a group of infantry units/companies, maybe 4 companies made up of 20 guys each. It would be inferred that it's not clear whether they're living humans or something else, so they'll be covered from head to toe, mostly covered by a chainmail-esque armoured suit, but also gloves and a mask/helm. The helm, being unique for each company, will look like something from ancient Egypt, e.g. Anubis head or bird head, but that's as far as that aesthetic will go for them; I'll have to make those separately. Then these soldiers, in terms of their abilities, will be pretty nimble and quick on the battlefield, with the inference that whatever they're wearing is quite light, yet tough. So my question really is, does anyone recall, from their travels, seeing a box set etc which sells a bunch of dudes in near-full-body suits, maybe chainmail or something similar to that? From my search so far, the soldier's basic outline might look like something similar to a Norman infantryman, or a Byzantine cataphract, or Guybrush Threepwood after he's been tarred and feathered. That last reference is mostly for fun, but I'm not against a garment which appears more coarse than a fine, shimmering coat of mail, provided it's clear that this can be a tough garment, not something for a pajama party.

I mean I might ultimately have to indeed go with soldiers from those groups previously stated. It's just that the Cataphracts, such as the GB Parthian Cataphracts I have for my Roman army, are in sold in small groups and in cavalry pose, whilst the Norman soldiers, like the Victrix Norman infantry I have for my medieval army, have the chainmail placed over thick clothing underneath that, which kind of goes against that nimble infantry idea I had. Again, if that's simply what's available out there, so be it.

KR,
Mat

Perhaps a slightly different approach to what you are suggesting, but retains mail, quick and nible looking and covered neck to toe would be Oathmark Elves.  They don't have mailed legs or lower arms, but wear gloves and boots, so are completely covered.  Possibly, these won't meet the tough garment criteria.
Apart from what you have already listed, most other options may be too heavy and not nimble-looking.  Fireforge Russians are well covered but don't look very nimble.
I'm not sure how well these will convert, being #D prints and whether they are not nimble enough, but I like the look of the Medbury elevn pikes  https://www.medburyminiatures.com/product-page/elven-nobles-with-pikes

Thanks Ethelred, there may be something to this elf idea, at least for one or two of the four companies. With those nobles with pikes, I don't think they'd work because of the skirt effect right down to feet, but the oathmark elf infantry look to have a half-skirt, not sure what the technical name for that is, but I can see an Anubis head going well with them. I'd still like at least one company to have more of a leggings effect, with little/no sign of skirting.

I've not seen those Fireforge Russians before; very nice appearance regardless - they're like cataphracts on foot!

Wargames Atlantic just released chainmail clad foot knights. Covered from head to toe in armor and easy to put in dynamic poses due to being split at the waist, plus tons of weapons.

Thanks Anton. I don't think they'll work for this army idea, because of those imposing surcoats on every figure. But seriously, thanks for flagging them because they look epic, I think I'll get one or two sprues for my medieval army. It's always pleasing to see non-fantasy 28mm figures with decent-sized (or even slightly oversized) swords and heater shields; plus the detail for the flat top helms looks great. Very encouraging stuff
