County Road Z Fallout: Day Three
« on: July 11, 2024, 02:07:29 PM »
Using my post apocalyptic and sci fi terrain I have started a County Road Z campaign and will be using my Fallout miniatures.

Really enjoyed this first game, securing a small house as the groups base of operations along with recruiting a new survivor.

Next up is the Community Layer, fortifying the place, sorting food, beds and water before going out on the second mission.

That looks rather awesome, lots of scatter pieces to add interest and colour. The figures look good, too. I’m looking forward to seeing future updates.

Just curious about your opinions about the rules so far, do they give the feel you’re after?

I'm still clunky with them but generally I like it.

The zombies can't see and are just attracted by noise  and can move faster than humans, both of which feels odd.

There are more advanced rules including line of sight so plenty to play around with.

Your setup looks great - love it!  :-*

I am very close to doing my first game with the rules, as well. Glad you liked the first one. Any takeaways for fellow newbies...? Things we should do to make it go smoother (or remember for the rules)?

I think it's just a case of jumping about in the rulebook, seem to need information from 3 pages at once at times.

Also, I got a bit stuck with the rookie level survivor as they only get one skill. Hence, if it's not combat based then they can't use weapons so have to stay home doing support jobs.

Later in the campaign you might be able to build a training room and then they can be progressed.

On fb people seem to have houseruled to allow them to go on missions which is what I'll probably do.

Plus there are loads of options and add ons which may it more of a toolkit than a rigid ruleset so i think I'm going to have lots of fun with it.

Edit: I was harsh about the ruleset and have deleted my negative comment.

Insomnia has led me to sitting reading the book for a fair few hours and its breadth is great, should have tons of fun adding stuff as I go along.

Thank you! I usually create my own Quick Reference Sheet for any miniatures game that I'm going to play. I try to design them front and back of a half sheet of cardstock. So, I will make sure I do that before trying my first game.

Appreciate the honest feedback!

Do you think they were hoping to get a license for A Quiet Place?
Back from the dead, almost.

 :D

I like that film.

However, regarding movement I played it wrong, they move their movement only when within movement plus 2 inches of a survivor.

I followed World of Wargaming on YT about this game. I was impressed, especially about the way the zombies moved became masses, were attracted to the board by noise. I will get them at some point, probably in 7 months time when I've gamed my current fancy, VBCW.

Day 2

Nora and the new recruit, Samawel, remain at the new base; Nora is trying to get some power and water sorted whilst Samawel has volunteered to man the kitchen, he's good a rationing so will help to keep every one fed.

Nick and Hancock set out to a now abandoned derelict ship, previously used as a store/scrapyard, in search of hardware to start improving their new home.

A successful mission with lots of reclaimed items, some food and some fuel.

Most importantly neither was injured despite an ever escalating threat of active Zeds.
