Gaslands rig build - Sept 7 - top “deck” completed
« on: August 02, 2024, 11:43:32 PM »
I haven’t painted much since the mid-June, due to travel and other distractions. One distraction has been building a war rig for a friend who is a fan of the Mad Max films. I found a cheap truck in a dollar store, then I’ve been scratch-building a trailer. It’s taking longer than I expected (non-gaming distractions played a role there), but the basic shape is together. Now it’s a matter of gluing on some post-apoc style bits and giving it some paint.

Very impressive.  Even with the distractions.   :o

Looking good so far.

I sympathise with the "distractions"...

Looking good. That tractor has some nice details for a dollar store find.

"Two days ago I saw a vehicle that could haul this cardboard tube.... In a dollar store! "
"What do you want in return?"
"Some sticky tape and a couple new paintbrushes"
"It's no good Max, you are out there with the garbage!"
"I'm still your best bet to build this model."

I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

I am slowly making progress on the rig - added supports to the front of the trailer chassis, and a pump and hose locker near the middle of the trailer. I also added grating on top of the tire guards.

Next, I need to add a catwalk along the top of the trailer, then I can start layering on the armour and fighting platforms. Hopefully that will be over the coming week….

I put together a catwalk over the weekend. It’s a bit wider than it would be on a real trailer, but I am okay with that since I want it to be able to accommodate figures on 20mm bases. I also glued on ladders at the front and rear of the tank. They’re originally from the fire escape on an HO building that I scrapped for parts 10 or 12 years ago (waste not, want not).

Bit at a time, it’s getting closer to completion!

Well, based on progress so far, we shall accept nothing less than Awesome on the finished product.  But, hey, no pressure.  lol

Very cool modeling.
