Medieval floor tiles
« on: 25 August 2024, 12:44:20 PM »
Can anybody point me in the direction of some ready made medieval floor tiles(textured made A4 size sheet) ? I have tried making my own for basing 28mm models but its very time consuming. The picture below is a 25mm base I made myself.

Dragonforge have some different styles in textured bases - https://dragonforge.com/product-category/resin-bases-square-with-bevel-edge/page/1/

Other than that, it might be worth trying dolls house flooring.

Green Stuff world has textured plasticard sheets. One of them is small squares.

They do!

Also, both Evergreen Plastics and Plastruct have sheets of textured stone, in various options. I did a Dwarf army once using them.

Those tiles bases you made from scratch don’t look as if anything could ever equal them. I think they are well worth the time you spent on them.

I know this sounds very 50-years-ago, but I once did a stone flagged floor using mounting card and just drew on it with pencil. It lightly scored the card enough to give it the 3d effect and was very easy.

That’s how i do brickwork on foam sided buildings. score it with pen, knife and  spatula.  A razor knife might get a little deeper on card but a steel ruler and a protractor and you can get a good grid.

What about buying a sheet of thick plasticard and then score it with a scriber or other pointed object?
If you have each score mark, say, 5mm apart then it'll make it easy to cut it into bases depending on what size you want.

Actually, to spare yourself the effort of scribing; there are sheets of plasticard available with a recessed grid. I've seen them with a 5mm square grid for instance...

I used plasticard for the Frothers Cthluedo Mansion library:
