The Start of my Painted Africans Updated 30/12/09
« on: 30 November 2009, 01:11:14 PM »
I'm running a quick pick-up game of In the Heart of Africa on Tuesday, plus I have needed some African natives for my pulp games. So, not wanting to wait until the last minute, I started painting the models (who will be Kubo). Just a small force of 2 units of spearmen and one unity of pygmy archers.

And a close up of a nearly completed warrior (still need to add spears, touch up shield and finish base).

Body: Burnt Umber and highlighted with Reaper Tanned Shadow.

Shield: craft paint Ivory

All of this is over a black primer.

Here is the entire collection set-up for pre-painting. I've labelled the whole force for easy identification.

I think I need one more warrior/spearmen unit and maybe 5 more archers to have enough of a mix to run them as multiple different factions. I have 44 figures right now, and with that addition I would have a total of 57-60 figures.  More figures than the games I normally run (which usually have about a dozen) but not so bad that i feel overwhelmed. Plus, since I am not looking for historical accuracy, my warriors/spearmen can be from any faction I choose.

oh, great, always a pleasure to see a new volunteer on Africa theme! Pygmys are my next Africa step, as soon as I finished painting Azandes. Good luck, Rich, you are on the right way  :)

Nice stuff!  One of these days I gotta dig out my pygmies, too.
They call me "Point Cow"
