Also I miss the Sentry Box, that is one of the best things about Cowtown.

I miss the store as well. My bank balance is happier that I am not a 15 minute drive from it any more :-)

Nice painting.

How many options do the sprues come with?
There are sprue photographs here https://ultravanillasmurf.blogspot.com/search?q=Goblin+slaves

Some new minis done.

A small unit of 5 Mounted Elven Rangers, three Elven heroes and a stand-in for some Undead artillery that is meant to represent the Ark of Souls that the Undead force will be using to capture spirit energy in games.

The heroes are the metal Oathmark character minis from North Star. The Ark of Souls is a resin miniature from Max Mini. I rebased it on a 50mm x 100mm base that all the artillery in Oathmark uses. I then added some of the resin models that lost a foot while I was rebasing some of the minis.

I've always found it odd that such an important artifact never has an entourage and so I used the additional space on the base to add a few minis to make it look more important.

Next up are three more character models as well as a unit of Max Mini resin Undead cavalry.

One thing I have never noticed before is that the Oathmark Ork list doesn't have an option for Ork cavalry. So I am taking a stab at creating some stats for them

Orc Boar Rider   6   8   2   0   11   2   1   26
Hand Weapon, Shield, Light Armour
Charge (2), Wild Charge, Shielding(1)

It's a very entertaining channel, can also only recommend it to everyone!

Nice work at your figures! The only odd thing is the way at which you have attached the right arm with the arrow at the mounted Elven Rangers: I think it would look better if the arrow sits on the left side of the bow on top of the left hand. For that the elbow of the right arm is pointing up as is common at archery.

Western archers tend to have fire the arrow along the side of the bow nearest to the firer (left side if the bow is held in the left hand).

As I found too late, Japanese archers balance the arrow on the hand on the right side of the bow.

Getting the arrow and bow aligned either side can be difficult.

That was the case in this instance. Just difficult to get it to work on the mini and put it on the horse

Some more units for the Elves and Dwarves came in today. I only originally had a single bo of the Elf Infantry and I made three different units of them. These new minis will be used to expand each spear, soldier and archer unit to 15 models. I am not sure what I will do with the other 15.

The Dwarf Infantry will be used to make some archers as well as some more spear and soldier models.

And the Dwarf Light Infantry will be for some Ranger units. Both the ranged and melee types.

As part of my 'getting ready for winter' plan and also to look at further options for Oathmark I have started assembling some more minis. Today it was 20 Elf Linebreakers using the Elf Heavy Infantry box

https://www.northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=19130

I did ten Linebreakers with banner and axes and ten with banner and two-handed swords. Oathmark makes no distinction between the two but it does mean that I can field them as Lion Warriors and Swordmasters when I play Age of Fantasy.

Good progress, well done!

Good idea!

I always felt it was interesting that Oathmark didn't have halberds or similar as a weapon option, so that heavier infantry could have a three oprions in the same way regular infantry do. I guess it make the other two weapon choices (double-handed and sword-and-board) a bit more distinct though? I also suppose the overall Oathmark setting is also a bit earlier in terms of technology too...?

One thing I have never noticed before is that the Oathmark Ork list doesn't have an option for Ork cavalry.
I thought the same!

But then it ocurred to me that I could use another type of suitable cav if I really wanted, and just use Orc models for them. I feel that's one of the nice things about how Oathmark lets you put forces together. Similar for dwarves riding rams or such. :)

I just assumed that orcs are too heavy to ride wolves, and they barbecue all the horses they find, so they delegate all the riding around to goblins and get on with what they best at - handing out brutal violence on foot. Dwarves also don’t have their own mounted troops, presumably because horses aren’t ideal in mountainous areas and mine ponies make poor cavalry mounts. Hiring human cavalry makes sense for a dwarf overlord.

I haven’t looked for a while, but I think one of the later Oathmark supplements allows orcs to take chariots of their own. Same for dwarves.

That’s not to say that adding a territory to orc and dwarf lists that allows taking their own mounted troops (and putting together a stat line for them) is a problem. The proposed orc cavalry don’t seem like they would break the game.

I always thought it was supposed to be in the same vein/era/tech level as The Battle of Five Armies.

I don't think the author has as much interest in the wargame as he does in the Kingdom building campaign and so there are fewer distinct troop types.

I was looking at the stats for the Human Heavy cavalry to see how they would work. I could also just build the Goblin Wolf Riders I have but the Orc cav has the benefit of being painted and ready to go :-)
