The Walking Ghost! (Yet more painted stuff)

The Walking Ghost! Enemy of criminals everywhere! (Additional gratuitous exclamation points!!!!!!!)

Of course, since he bares ABSOLUTELY NO RELATION to any copyrighted character, he is painted in an original color scheme. Not an ounce of purple to be found.

But you get the idea.

My childhood hero. Biggest and most long lasting superhero there ever was in Sweden. Here he actually wore blue, due to some printers misunderstanding.

Really? I can vaguely recall reading something about that. That's another idea for an alternate paint scheme... hmm..

He wore brown in yet another country, as the publisher felt that the purple was too expensive to print.

I don't think he can have been very big here. I only recognise him from the "Defenders of the Earth" cartoon series from the 80s. I presume it is the same fella.

It is the same fella.

He was not popular here when I was growing up, but I do remember the cartoon and the daily comic strip that appeared for a while.

My first experience of him was on a slide projector which you pointed at the wall or ceilingI had one Christmas, the slides came on strips you put them in and pressed a trigger which took it through, a little like an Hotchkiss :D The other strip that came with it was Prince Valiant. Ahh! simple times.

He's always been one of my favorite heroes.

I like his costume here more than his old one with the striped trucks. This looks like something that would be more concealable in the Deep Woods jungle.

Excellent work!!!

What was the miniature's origins and what did you do to convert him.

And I wonder if new LAF member Kit Walker has seen this?

Kit Walker, one of the best ever. I loved his automatics and that he wasn´t superhuman, but a real man.

I recall eagerly awaiting each Sunday paper comics supplement to read the next installment. It was always one of my favorite strips. Even the Billy Zane movie couldn't kill my love for the Phantom. I have a pair of skull rings that were given out as promos for the movie on my painting table in fact.

When I say he is huge in Sweden I reallly mean it. More or less everyone of various generations knows of the mythos (from the name of his wife to the locations of his various hideouts) to a degree where the fictional "jungle proverbs" pertaining to his person are quoted in serious news media.

'There are nights when the Phantom leaves the jungle an walks the streets as an ordinary man.'

May seem trivial to you but it still give me goose bumps.

Lovely model. James Van Schaik is quickly becoming one of my favourite sculptors.

I don't know Black Army productions, so I don't know your usual preferences - is the base integral or is the mini tabbed or pegged?

He's not a conversion. He's carried by my company, in the "Champions of History" range.:)

As to your question, mallet, all of the miniatures in the range have minimal integral bases. I don't do slotta base stuff.
