Apologies if I missed an existing thread on this!

So, who’s caught the first two episodes?

The general vibe among my friends is that it’s “The Goonies in space” (meant as a compliment). Even though it focuses on a younger cast, the characters are likable, and the visuals are engaging—I especially enjoyed the Star Wars spin on a Tortuga-like setting and noticed the droid had a peg leg too.

I’m also curious about the planet At Attin. It has that classic Star Wars feel, but it wouldn’t be out of place in the (Trek) Federation either.

Goonies in Space is what I thought around the last episode. And that’s in a good way! I think the series has been some of the most fun, excellent special effects, and a terrific different point of view to the Star Wars universe.

Really enjoying it.

Not at the time, but the Mrs twigged it. A pirate droid - who would've thought it?

Haha! I totally missed the SMEE reference! Nicely done.

Great fun, really enjoyable opening two episodes, so much to see going on at the space port. Anyone else twig the name of the droid; SM33?  ;) lol

Watching it with subtitles, I picked it up immediately. If I didn't have them on, it might have taken a little while longer.

I'm enjoying it so far. I would like to see more of an adult themed show around the pirate port.

I've heard the ratings are horrible and it might not get a second season?

Ok, watched episode 3 this morning. I'm still finding it to be light-hearted fun and it still has that Goonies vibe to it.

Pleased to see the X-Wings and the fan service to ships guns.

Loving Jude Law in it - why hasn't he been in Star Wars before?!?

Did anyone notice Jaleel White aka Steve Erkel as one of the pirates?

I didn't think the last episode was very good,

[spoiler!] Why the hell would someone put inexperienced kids heading a column in a warzone! After only one afternoon of practicing guns.

But it being a series for kids it does make sense, the characters grow and every episode is a separate adventure where the kids discover and learn something new. I enjoyed it anyway.

It’s brilliant! A kids show really but it’s got that 80s goonies appeal, loving it so far!

This week's episode definitely cements "The Goonies in Psace" vibe.

So this thread fizzled out, with the last post on Christmas Day lol

What did everyone think of it?

For me, it was okay, but didn't really achieve much. The main pirate never changed, the kids will (reluctantly) acknowledge each other in school now, but that was about it. SM33 seemed to have the most personal growth of any character.

Hyperspace travel appears to be very relative (the New Republic got there really fast), and one pirate ship was able to subdue a whole planet (which seemed to consist of one small town). All electric power was controlled from one location, and the shield that protected the planet could be permanently destroyed by a single lever ???

Visually it was fine - I did like the giant rubbish eating monster on the pleasure planet, but there wasn't really anything that changed, other than At-atan being found.

TBH, it was nice to have a programme that I didn't have to focus upon, or cross reference Star Wars lore on... it was designed as family light entertainment, and if it achieved anything, I think it achieved that.

Does it warrant a second season? Probably not, but I don't think that makes it a failure.

It was noticeable that At Attin warranted 8 x-wings, 2 spec'ed up B-Wings and a CR-90 whereas poor old Nevarro was left hanging, but I guess the draw of the mythical Old Republic Mint was an understandable draw for the New Republic.... think of all those bureaucrats it will pay for....

that much money appearing in circulation would crash the economy.

if it doesn't get a 2nd series (which it probably will), it would be nice to see Jude Law's character again... maybe a dirty dozen type affair

Overall, I really enjoyed it. Goonies in Space, fun all around. The kids did well, Jude Law was fun, the parents were clueless, and it was nice to see suburbia in space - the direct opposite to say Mos Eisley, eh?

Would like to see a 2nd season.

My 2 girls liked it, I loved it, and I have plenty additonal scenery and critter ideas now.....I really need a few of those little crabbies, and get my thumb out of my arse to get my shuttle done.
