that worktop was not messy...

Well it definitely got worse before  lol

If I clean my desk, I can't find anything.  It is counterproductive.

I usually clean it before a new project or when I can't find something anymore  :)

I did the stairs to the cabin and the cabin door itself during the weekend.

I will add a couple of bolts on to the cabin door window frame, but otherwise it's done.

It doesn't look like much was done, but it needed a lot of fiddling to make it fit. It would be easier if I started gluing things in place, but if I do that I can't paint some details, that will be visible, later.
Also I found a good bit for the control panel, that I will try to copy with bluestuff, and small anchor. Both comes from a GW Kharadron ship kit.

Very nice work.  It definitely makes it look there is a there there.

Yesterday and today I worked on the engine pods.
Went with the bigger versions.

Their placement is set. I tried to make it symmetrical but I don't think even the two halves of the hull are symmetrical (it is a very old Heller kit), so it isn't perfect. It will bother me forever, but I don't have the time to fiddle with it anymore.
I will start detailing them and add additional supports. They are not glued on yet.
Also here is the two bits I mentioned earlier.

On an unrelated note, does someone know if it's possible to change the main title of the topic? Or how to do it?

Looking good McMordain, nice use of the paint bottle lids.

I believe thread titles can be changed but you'd need to butter up a mod to do it for you.

Go back to your very first post of this thread, hit Modify, and update the Subject line there, that'll change the display title for the entire thread.

The whole thing is coming together nicely! I share the frustration with "damn thing isn't symmetrical" - and in my case, it's a quirk of the back walls of my shuttle project, so I can't even blame a kit part, just some oddity of alignment that crept in as I assembled the damn thing!

The door into the cabin is very, very nicely done. Is that just freehand styrene cutting or do you have something to help cut that rounded lozenge shape?

Mods can edit it, but so can you as Wirelizard mentioned

Overall, this is a smashing build. Looking forward to the final thing.

Changed the title, thanks for the info guys!

I got swamped at the end of last week at work and had other things to do during the weekend, so couldn't do much.
I did some detail work on one of the engine pods last Wednesday. Tried make it look like its an uncovered engine, but the spools are made of PP and only bigger pieces stick to it... until I hold it with too much force. So I wasn't able to ad small details and I don't really like the look of it now. It will be easy to get the bits of though  lol

I think I will add a couple more horizontal half canes instead, and hope that they will not come off when I paint them.
I still have a lot to do at work so most likely I can resume working on the ship during the weekend. I don't have anything planned and hopefully nothing urgent will come up.

The door into the cabin is very, very nicely done. Is that just freehand styrene cutting or do you have something to help cut that rounded lozenge shape?

This one was freehand, after drawing the shape using a template. I used a ruler for the straight parts, and drilled holes along the curves and cut it in small sections. With 1 mm or thinner plastic card it's not that difficult. It is not that precise either, just doesn't shows on the pics  ;)
The template however was a leftover piece from my 2018 build (the similarly shaped door at the middle of the post), which was cut using a circle cutter like this one. It works if one has the patience to make lots of passings slowly. Mine however is old and the the blade is not that sharp anymore. And because it is a compass style tool, it leaves a hole at the middle, which could be annoying at times. I'm considering getting something like the Dspiae cutter.

Amazing detail on the pods.

Thanks and I hate to disappoint, but I wont't be using those. I'm really afraid that gluing PP will not hold up during painting or playing.
I found my old box of Mantic pipe sections and the straight one is a good enough fit. I tried it yesterday. I will post pictures tonight or tomorrow.

Amazing work on those details, even if you won't be using them.
