Wow, how did I not find this amazing forum until now? Such a trove! Humbling and inspiring.

I found this forum because I kept coming upon Google Images I loved by Hobgoblin, resident here. I've become hooked on collecting orcs, trolls, goblins, and assorted miscreants and dread beasties.

I returned to RPGs a few years ago after playing fighting fantasy books with my son (Sorcery! City of Thieves etc). It wasn’t long before I got into painting minis. Mostly British old school style.

Here’s some minis i painted for a City of Thieves game with my son:

Orange Goblins

Hill Giant
Like the goblins, this was a resin mini from Etsy. I bought quite a few of these in the early days but most of them have snapped. This Giant is very solid but I still managed to break him.

This was my second attempt to use static grass (after the goblins above) and I really liked trying to create a naturalistic clay base to get a turfed look. I was very happy with how this one turned out.

I used Reaper paints because I read they were more translucent than Vallejo and I liked the option of building colours. I painted the skin colour over a red base. But skin's not easy.

Green Demon

One of the few resin minis that has never snapped

Anyways, no more of the resin! I am painting a bunch of goblins, orcs, ogres, trolls and snotlings by sculptors like Kevin Adams, Nick Lund and the Perry Twins. I'll post them here.

Welcome to the forum, it’s a great place to see and chat about miniatures! Excellent work on the models. The skin tones on the giant turned out quite well.

Great work, thanks for joining and sharing! I really like those little goblin guards, and those big monsters look very realistic (if such things can be said to be realistic)!

Re: Reaper paints- I don't think I've encountered another line of paints that has such a matte finish, for example, when you paint an article of clothing with them it actually looks like cloth because there's so little shine. Almost a chalky look. Obviously not for everybody, nor for every use, but I personally like them on par with the other major lines of paint that I've tried (Citadel, Army Painter, and Vallejo). Also they often throw in a free bottle if you buy miniatures from them direct, so it might be that I'm brainwashed by freebies.

Cheers!

These are excellent!

I really like those orange goblins, and the demon is terrific. The blue eyes work brilliantly.

Thanks for the kind words, too!

Agree with all posters above - a great collection of minis so far and an excellent eye for the painting. The grass on the giant's base turned out how you wanted I think - good job.
