Dutch Landsverk Armoured cars
« on: 28 January 2025, 07:59:40 AM »
Completed another two 20mm pieces for my Dutch army this week, two Landsverk Armoured cars. Hand painted markings based on the light division units. I am not sure if the maker but they were resin with separate doors, someone suggested EWM M38.

Cheers
Matt

Lovely! :-* :-*

I think the Dutch were the only force In WW2 to extensively mark their vehicles with 'This Way Up' arrows. They did it to their aircraft too but people thought they were just taking the piss at that stage.  :)

Hey; when everyone is doing circles, you got to diversify ;)

But we did the triangles to avoid confusion with other airforces, after some nasty mistakes were made, thinking Dutch planes were Japanese (by the British) or British (by the Germans). As at that point we were still firmly believing we'd again be neutral the second time around.

Also, if I recall correctly; on aircraft, the triangle was always painted on pointing down. Which makes more sense, since that's the way most of our planes went anyway...  lol

The M36's are looking really spiffy though!  8)

I still need one for my own 28mm Dutch forces myself. I first thought they were the 1/56 May '40 vehicles that were only made in limited numbers, but they're in (approximately?) 1/72 instead...

Wonderful looking vehicles, good work painting them up and getting them onto the tabletop!

I love 1930s A/Cs, these look like sleeker and more streamlined versions of the British Lanchester…but left hand drive!

I need to add to my previous post.  Those orange upward-pointing triangles look eerily like "slow moving vehicle" placards you see on farm equipment and Amish buggies here in the States... :)

Yes a big fan of Armoured cars, my 1940 armies tend to have a lot of “cavalry” type recon vehicles as I like the development of a game from the recon/advance guard contact to full blown assault.

Cheers

Wait until you discover the whacky world of interwar Czech armoured cars, all of which I might add are now available as 3D resin prints.  :)
