Winter Soldiers
« on: February 24, 2025, 08:04:11 AM »
I'm working my way through the Continental Army during the Trenton Campaign. I'm attempting to do each of the Continental Regiments that fought in the Campaign. Each Brigade will be represented by the regiments that comprised it.

I spent a good many hours converting these Perry, Foundry, Eureka and other figure maker's castings into Winter Soldiers. I wanted Winter headgear, dirty uniforms and snow, slush and ice on the ground.

This is only the first wave. Lots more to come. Let me know what you think.

I love the snow effect. Very realistic.

Excellent, as always.
And the glorious general led the advance
With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

Look superb! Are you going to do some Germans to lose to them? Where did you get the figures wearing the 'Scotch bonnets' or Tam O'Shanters as we might call them?

Wellington,  About 90% of the figures have been converted. The heads have been replaced by KMM heads.
That's where the Scots headgear comes from.
The Germans have long been finished. Search my posts and you'll find them. I put a sample up here for you.

Iput up Artillery, Infantry and a pic of the Princeton 17 th Foot and the Philly Associators.

Thanks for the ‘heads up’ that’s a splendid little Hessian army you have there, so many guns!! Loving this little thread, just like I love Cap’in Jim’s AWI or AR threads, great pieces of history long overlooked here, probably because we lost to the French 🇫🇷 navy 🤣🤣

Wellington, The Germans had 2 Regimental Guns, per Regiment, attached to them at Trenton.

That's why 6 Guns total.
I'm glad that you enjoyed the photos.

So nice to see you back posting on your AWI collection!  And you will be pleased to know my collection has been getting plenty of progress with more at hand given the pending 250th anniversary - with a game planned for April 19th, the actual 250th anniversary of Lexington/Concord.  And hopefully a few flags on display. I hope by June to at least have 60 battalions painted and more would be great.  Bunker Hill anniversary that month.

15's,  Glad to hear it! I've got so many new units finished, but my photography space is currently occupied by Hmmm "Stuff", shall we say! I took the Winter Soldier pix outside, so perhaps I'll try that again once it warms up.

I'm working on the Trenton Campaign artillery right now. I just finished painting 6 F&D Ammo Wagons and dozens of cannon, wagons and carts. A ridiculous amount of washes and drybrushes to get the look that I wanted.

Here's a finished piece.
