Wadiya Air Traffic Control Tower for AK-47

On September 5th 2023 I said:

"Finished the Generator shack, next up weathering of the top part and then painting in the windows.

Getting there, slowly."

 
...then I effed up painting the windows and into the box it went.

Lastnight we had another online painting session and I was working on my entry for the AK-47 Groupbuild when I had an idea, grew a pair of balls and grabbed the 15mm control tower and finished it. Finally.

So, this is how it started, a complete scratchbuild with foam and card (although I would do the top in a different manner these days) from August 2023



And this is how it is now, finished and table ready.

Wadiyan airspace is now controlled by glorious air traffic controllers between 9:00-17:00 business hours, not on sundays and certain holidays. Lunchtime is from 11:00 till 13:00.  Please be considerate and only declare Mayday at these times.

WOW  ! That is a very nice piece of terrain, beautiful and really looks the part! I only stumbled upon this by chance and glad I did. I now have to "research" what all that AK-47 and Wadiya is about  .

@ Fred and Anevilgiraffe:

Yes, big sheet of ribbed card, measured and then added pencil lines where I wanted the lines to be. Glued it all together and after the white coat those lines are still faintly visible, then you have a perfectly paint by Numbers so to speak fo fill in the squares.

Same technique as for Ork Checkerboards......just a tad bigger.

@ Fred (again) - comfort on the radio, but once in visual range.....not so sure about that!

@Mikedemana and Legionare - on my blog, click on the Scratchbuild tag and you should be able to see everything I did over the last 10 years, though the Photobucketalypse killed off a few years of pics. I do have a habit of leaving out steps though.

@Has.been - yeah nah, i have a couple of crates now of unfinished or half built items, I think about a good tables worth of kit. Sorting out all of the 20mm stuff atm for resale as I will be sticking to 15mm and 28mm from now on

I got caught in that shitstorm, too. This past summer, I went back and re-uploaded every single photo to the blog posts from when I was using Photobucket. Hours and hours of work, but hey! It's done now and my blog is complete again...

I will definitely check that part of your blog out. I hadn't looked at it, yet...
