Victrix WW2 in 12mm. 17 April: US Infantry test colours

This is the stuff nightmares are made of, but I think I managed to pull off a decent job. Three more sprues to paint, then organize a ?reinforced platoon? with some weapons bases.

Thank you! Indeed, this was terrifying to look into the abyss of that scheme! I?ve never painted it in 28mm, let alone 12mm.

Great stuff - how did painting them on the sprue go?

I?ve done a couple of hundred of these chaps in 10/12mm a good few years ago http://www.kerynne.com/games/BritishParas.html

I think I used a slightly different approach - of a sand base, then added the brown and green splodges.

Now I think about it, I?ve got a platoon plus in 28mm painted too!

That?s a LOT of paras! Must have taken forever.

The sprue has lots of room, so it worked well. Normally, I would mount each one on a small nail (I painted a lot of GHQ), but honestly this was fine!

Primed IDF Beige, GW Contrast wash, skin, then Denison, various other details. Smooth process in the end!

It was a while ago. Seem to recall the first ones took a while. Then I got into the swing of it.

Unfortunately they dont get on the table that often.

That?s unfortunate; same here, first couple were hope for result, then banging off the rest. Now on to the rifle teams/Brens. And basing.

Slogging through!

The figures from yesterday are based, but don?t have pumice gel and flock (I needed a finer gel for the scale).

Half way through the rest of the platoon!

Lovely job. I have some German infantry on painting sticks at the moment - they are lovely figures. I am using an opti-visor type pair of lenses to paint mine :-)

Looking good!

For basing are you going generic grass or urban?

Do you have a photo of the Vickers MMG team? Metal vickers tend to be a bit flat and disappointing - this one look promising.

I?ll take a pic of the Vickers for you; it?s a great model, well done.

Rural basing to match the other stuff on the Victrix site (these are going back to Victrix for their catalogue pages!).

No loupes or visors used - just good lighting.  o_o
