Can’t believe :D I’ve never painted US forces before!

So:

How was a 1944 US Infantry platoon organized, at 1:1 ?

Same question for 1944 US Airborne…

Thanks for helping …

Those are both good sites.  I've used Bayonet Strength a lot...

Thanks all - I know it’s odd, I could post anything but by memory.

Just need to paint a platoon of each, with some support weapons.

I've seen you got all the sources you need, but just to add a little to that: while US paras were organised in two-squad platoons, glider infantry platoons had three squads like a regular infantry platoon. And added to that, mechanised infantry platoons were 2 squad platoons, like the paras. ;D

I’ll be doing non-mechanized infantry, and no glider jockies lol

But thanks!

Having looked through both the sites given (which are both excellent!) I noticed that there are no generic medics/stretcher bearers or doctors shown on any of the orbats. How were medics allocated? Did companies not have a CAP, was there a RAP allocated to Bn HQ which iscwhat I would expect to see with a British/Canadian Bn?

Battalions had a medical unit, led by the Battalion Surgeon.  They ran the Battalion Aid Station, and attached medics to the line platoons, as well as manning Company Casualty Collection Points.  Thus, each platoon had an attached medic, not an organic one.

Well you say that now, but we both know there will be a point where you rationalise grabbing a box of Airborne because you basically already have glider infantr (if you dont put shoulder patches on), it barely counts as a new project  ;)
