Last Friday at the usual game hangout I put on a game I have wanting to do for some time - specifically a 10mm game based on the cheesy giant monster movies that were so prevalent in the 1950's. The story behind this one is that a local wannabe D&D warlock and snake oil salesman named JR (last name withheld due to pending charges) was playing with a Ouija board and a deck of Tarot cards when he accidentally opened an interdimensional portal and a Lovecraftian monstrosity came though. As is usual in these stories it promptly ate him and his odious family (getting an upset stomach in the process). As the creature advanced towards the city it was first engaged by aircraft from the local Air Force base (Mather AFB if you're being picky) and units of the National Guard. As the monster (kaiju?) fought the local military it caught the attention of a visiting tourist from Japan - Hayata! (if you don't know who he is turn in your nerd card). Hayata then used his ubiquitous beta capsule to transform into Ultraman who teamed up with the military to battle the creature. Th good guys were doing pretty well but the monster still managed to reach the city but then the robotic Colossus (created by local mad scientist (Professor Poindexter Peabody III) joined the battle and the creature went down to defeat. It was a fun game and got a fair amount of attention from the other gamers. Coming soon to a drive in near you The Return of the Creature That Ate Sacramento!
