What we painted in July 2025
« on: 07 July 2025, 11:51:45 AM »
These custom Grungetroopers combine Anvil Industry heads, Kromlech torsos, and Stargrave arms and designed as a gritty fusion of Shoretroopers and Mimban Stormtroopers. In my personal game canon, they serve as an elite special operations unit tasked with escorting Inquisitors on high-risk missions.

Yay -- somebody else started this thread for July! Thanks, Simon. You guys are probably sick of seeing them from my other threads, but here are my scratch built TIE fighters. Finished them off in time for last night's game, which is updated on my thread on Future Wars.

Otherwise, here's my blog article on how I made them:

Another kitbash in the mix: Anvil Industry heads, Kromlech bodies, and Stargrave arms once again. This time, it’s a lone Mandalorian on a mission, pieced together from the same trusted parts.

Not a particular project or goal in mind when I painted up these 28mm Fishmen from Miniature Building Authority. Just kind of, "Hey, these look cool...!"

That said, more likely than not they'll end up being part of my Tales of the Splintered Band solo Sellswords & Spellslingers campaign. For more photos and description of how I painted them, check out my Lead Legionaries blog:

Warmonger 10mm Gendarmes

Painted these up a good while ago, but didn't finish their basing off until recently - nice figures, a bit smaller and a lot more historical than the GW Warmaster Empire knights (which is my loose justification for needing yet more heavy cavalry!)

Stripy lances were less hassle than I expected - flag needs finishing - but need some inspiration on the design.

I finished up three more buildings for my 28mm Vietnam project. Two are 3-D printed Jungle Huts from Miniature Building Authority (same model, I think one was printed for 28mm and the other, slightly smaller one, for 20mm...maybe?

My favorite of the three is a resin one from their Shanty Town range, the Noodle Hut. It looks slapped together and not out of place at all in rural Vietnam.

For lots more photos and more detailed description, feel free to visit my Lead Legionaries blog:

Painted a few cryptid type creatures for post apocalyptic gaming in the American Southwest.

Two Skinwalkers, a Thunderbird, and a Pale Rider.

Conjuras' Presidential Ceremonial Guard, for pulp games:

32 men, 7 horses = 39 pieces

Hoping there will be more before the months end but we shall just have to see what transpires.  Figures are smaller 15 mm. figures found in 'the mountain' and of unknown origin other than part of a bag of 35 pounds of, mostly, unpainted figures bought a long time ago at a swap meet.  The mounted unit might be from Freikorps.

Got some Stargrave plastics painted up this past week as well!

Finished painting the first of my latest kitbashes this week. An Atlantic Cannon Fodder body paired with Stargrave head, arms, and gear. The varnish may have dried too fast in the heat, giving it a slightly washed-out finish.

Yet more Stargrave figures painted up for Call Security; an alien military unit (Mercenary I and II bodies, with Trooper heads), some melee armed thugs (Crew bodies), and a couple of Psionics (metal from North Star).
