New Epic Armageddon project
« on: July 14, 2025, 01:26:45 PM »
My local wargaming club is rather small, we have few people who mostly play 40k and even that is done rather spontaneously.

As a stubborn 40k rules hater who's gonna hate, I try to make turn the flow of events into more interesting direction. That's why I made 2 club armies for Epic Armageddon and now I'm planning to run some demo games.

Armies are rather small, only 1000 pts per side (4 formations each) but I was able to make each in a week.

Adepta Sororitas from the smal Dawnbearer Maidens order:

Renegades (Malalites) from the Monochrome Brotherhood, commanded by some Sons of Malice traitor marines:

Objective markers (made from paper and agile nylon rods):

I must say, having been in similar groups, way to make lemonade!

However, the 40K aesthetic is 'never big enough.' I think you're just the gamer to expand forces, though probably won't take too long to share the work.

Thanks for sharing!

Nice minis. Interesting choice of armies as well. I especially like the objective markers.

Cool little armies.

Epic figures (and games) are cool.

Epic armies do tend to grow, and grow!

Hope you get engagement from the local group.

If people want current rules and figures then Legions Imperialis is a good set.

Interesting choice, any reason behind it or just because you could, which is always valid. :)

Thank you, gentlemen!

I played Epic Armageddon quite a lot a couple of years ago and I think rulewise they are a decent game. Hopefully I can get some attention from local clubmembers.

Speaking of army choice - I always liked Adepta Sororitas, also they are a small elite army with few miniatures. And speaking of renegades - I never liked the idea of those 4 chaos gods, it looked like some kind of bad joke for me and I can't take it seriously to the day. Concept of Malal and Sons of Malice, to the contrary, was more captivating.

Consider the rules at ~$200 CAD today … that’s just insane.

Yes! Always happy to see more Armageddon going round, best GW ruleset in my opinion!

Also part of the appeal of EA there, since fans got official approval to publish the rules in full online + all errata. Its interesting that the rules have remained untouched by the overall community and its just army lists which have been added updated and balanced over time.

The core rules went through a multi-year public playtest phase and are probably some of the tightest that GW has ever produced. No real need to mess with them. There was never any formula to price out unit costs and so that is where the balance and playtesting resides now.

Absolutely agree. There are some issues with Armageddon rules, but in comparison to other GW rules they are good and have not aged like say warmaster or mordheim (that I used to love with all my heart back in 2000's). Another example of good GW rules is LOTR but they do all they can to make them worse  :D

Looks good.

Do you have some line of sight blocking terrain to use as well?
