Question to you 15mm'er folks

Do you individually base your infantry? I have some PSC infantry but they are so skinny and I think would look weird on separate bases. What other manufactures are there that might make a little more robust mini?

My friend does 15mm WW2. He has his individually based.

I base them on 12.5mm (1/2") steel washers for individuals, 22mm for team weapons. But I also use sabot bases for mass movement.

Sabot basing has always interested me, but how does that work over uneven ground? And, where do you buy those?

Depends on what you wanna play. If dude represents a dude --> individual basing. Yup, individual basing always looks weird. But it's OK. If you play company+ things or have a stand represent a larger formation --> put them on a unit base.

Friend of mine puts all his 15mm napoleonics on magnetic unit bases. Also works nicely.

Years ago I multi-based 15mm figures on FoW plastic bases, but this limits utility. When I bought my 15mm Command Decision Japanese and USMC for use with 'Battlegroup Pacific" and hopefully Chain if Command "Pacific" I opted for individual basing on 15mm diameter steel washers ( for added weight) and Warbases sabots. Very pleased with the result.

I think anything metal would look and feel heftier for individual basing. So Peter Pig, Forged in Battle, old Flames of War, Command Decision.

I've got individually based Flames and Forged in Battle: they look good and feel solid: they're not going to fall over if you nudge them the wrong way.

I like heavy bases when based individually so coins or washers over MDF, and plastic last.

My few 15s are multi-based for WW2. Weapons teams on 30mm squares, squads on 50x30mm (IIRC).

As said above does depend what you want to use them for. With smaller scales they are quick to paint and pretty cheap, so having both multi- and single based is practical. Rather than using sabots.

All my 15mm are individually based - generally on 16mm dia washers or for my AWI I used 15mm mdf rounds and sabot bases from Warbases (as they’d be in line etc). Never really have any problem with toppling but all my chaps are metal (although a washer underneath a plastic soldier chap is also very stable - my friend has never complained about his). Warbases are brilliant and do bespoke/custom work at incredibly reasonable prices - I highly recommend them.

Yet to dive into WWII figures but I have been using 1/2" steel discs, from Total Element, for basing and works a treat. 

While I love the concept of sabot basing I think the look deteriorates rapidly with figure removal, becomes sort of a portable impact field moving around the table.  Personally, I find 15 mm metal figures (mostly!) sturdy enough to pick up in chunks and move.  Just don't do it with pointy swords and lances and or rifles with bayonets at the ready - breakage or bendage guaranteed.

I'm basing mine for Chain of Command, so base them singularly. My figures are all Peter Pig 15mm (and so metal) and I base them on UK pennies, which for the post part are magnetic for ease of storage. Great little figures with a bit of heft

I don't like sabot bases to I base some individually, for CoC for example, and some other in bigger bases like for Crossfire or Poor Bloody Infantry. They are tiny and easy to paint so I do both ways. Here's an example:

My WW2 rules of choice are Crossfire, so they are based in groups of 3s.
However, I also have some based in 2s and 1s so I can use them with other rules that require figure removal.

It works fine, bearing in mind that the sabots are just used for general movement where exact figure placement is unnecessary. Once the unit gets to where it needs to be deployed, the figures come out of the sabots and are placed individually.
