15th C Ottomans?
« on: August 12, 2025, 11:51:04 AM »
Planning a participation game in 2026 and need about 50 Ottoman warriors ( preferably two distinct classes) in 28mm.
They will be 'recycled" during the game as otherwise the financial outlay would be a bit much.
Which company(ies)  would be able to provide these? Plastic or metal or even 3d prints.
Thnaks very much for any help!

Old Glory do a range that has some from the time frame you're after. From pics on the US site, they look like some of their better models. Essex do some too - very typical Essex miniatures style.
The Assault Group do the best Ottomans I've seen but they are over 100 years later than the period you're after (late 16th -17th century)...

Willie, I managed to access the TAG website just now with no problems.  As has been said they are advertised as being from 1595-1700 but I'm sure some of them (eg Azabs and some Jannissaries) will pass muster for an earlier period.  The Old Glory Ottoman range does look to be one of their better ones, and at £35 for 30 figures are nearly half the price of TAG. My lesson learnt from dealing with OG figures is "look before you buy". If you can get to a show where they are trading contact them in advance to bring what you might want and ask to check them out. There will always be a couple of bizarre poses in any bag of their figures and IMHO the metal isn't the best.

I had thought about doing a Tom Swan (Christian Cameron's books set in the mid 16th Century) based game.  In the books he ends up fighting the Ottomans.   I did a bit of a search for what might be appropriate miniatures.  I have no real knowledge of the period other than the books but I thought the following might work:
The armoured Sipahis in the League of Augsburg range, might be appropriate (even though they are from 100 or more years later) https://www.leagueofaugsburg.com/shop/products-subcat-61-2.html
and Wargames Atlantic have armoured infantry https://creativitycaveprint.com/products/ottoman-armored-infantry-death-fields-wargames-atlantic?variant=55872125141257&country=AE&currency=EUR&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22857807483&gbraid=0AAAABAiFuFwEUi5GUFG3EnGWqPNLN3ATS&gclid=CjwKCAjw7_DEBhAeEiwAWKiCC8WPWiqwLkuJK_EtJhEnmtsy0galQdgNzXuj8QNaFYooCTDSgRqVHRoCfUoQAvD_BwE

This post might give you a few ideas.

And I am trying to find an old post from FB, but the Armored ottomans should work with the Current Perry 15th center figs, but are on the large side. So printing them at 90% of size should equal them out.

I have a similar project on the shelf after watching the series on the siege of Constantinople. I plan to go with OG + some kitbashing of Gripping Beast Arabs and Fireforge Medieval Russians
